THE PERFORMING ARTS have the power to enchant, inspire

or uplift us. Even stories rife with hardship and angst remind us

of the human condition. Whether one leaves the theatre feeling

empowered, vulnerable or joyful, the experience is transformative.

The vibrant performing arts offerings are plentiful in

Milwaukee, thanks to support from the United Performing

Arts Fund (UPAF).

UPAF, the nation’s largest united performing arts fund,

provides operating funds for 38 performing arts groups in

the greater Milwaukee area. In 2013, UPAF raised more than

$11 million, the most in the group’s history. As a result,

UPAF allocated a record-setting $8,338,000 to 15 Member

Groups and 23 Affiliates.

“Our community is a destination and people come to

Milwaukee to experience the arts. We draw from a very large

base outside of southeastern Wisconsin,” said Deanna Tillisch,

UPAF president and chief executive officer, adding that patrons

come from as far as northern Illinois.

According to Tillisch, having a vibrant arts community,

especially in the performing arts, is an economic benefit.

“If you don’t have a strong downtown area, your outlying

areas won’t be as strong,” she added.

The average expenditure above an event ticket price is $28.

These entertainment dollars are spent at restaurants, bars, and

hotels in the area and the economic benefit extends beyond

the performing arts.

the art of the matter

imagine the abrupt stillness of a theatre that has suddenly gone dark.

For a brief moment, there is the longing to hear just one more song or

to see one more dance or to be swept away again by the compelling

portrayal of the play’s protagonist.

Page 9: April 2014 Volume 67 Issue 6

Page 10: April 2014 Volume 67 Issue 6

For the 6,000 people who are employed

in the performing arts sector, this equates to a

$100 million investment.

“We have among the best talent right here

in our backyard. And, through the performing

arts, we have an opportunity to bring people

together,” said Tillisch, who emphasized the

power of engagement. “Live performances

draw a diverse audience of individuals to

share in something special. Talk back sessions

follow some performances and help stimulate

dialogue. It only adds value to the experience.”

Each year, UPAF Member Groups reach

a million people through more than 2,000

performances of live theatre, music, dance

and opera. Educational programming and

community outreach extends to 400,000

school children annually. Research shows that

arts education has a measurable impact on

children, improving academic performance,

creative and critical thinking skills, as well

as discipline and focus. Arts education

programming is an important extension of

UPAF-supported organizations and their

presence in the community. These programs

often augment what is no longer available

in the schools.

Milwaukee has the largest children’s

theater academy in the country (First

Stage) and the largest youth symphony in

the country (Milwaukee Youth Symphony

Orchestra). According to Tillisch, neither

would be possible without UPAF.

In March, UPAF announced its 2014

campaign goal of $11.7 million. UPAF

strengthens and stabilizes the performing arts

community as a whole by providing general

operating funds to groups that vary in size

and art form, enabling them to share resources

and encourage each other’s creativity. UPAF’s

fund allocation formula encourages high

artistic, financial and management standards,

thereby advancing the organizational

excellence of its Member Groups.

A major focus of the campaign this year is

to generate awareness of UPAF with residents

of Waukesha County. UPAF has set a goal of

raising $1.5 million from donors in this specific

geographic area during its 2014 campaign.

Announced last month at the inaugural Westside

Campaign Kickoff event held at the Sharon

Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield,

the initiative is UPAF’s effort to increase giving

from donors in the western suburbs. Several

UPAF Affiliates are in Waukesha County,

and many UPAF Member Groups not only

perform there, but also deliver arts education

programming to nearly 50,000 children.

“There are thousands of nonprofits in

southeastern Wisconsin, so we know there are

many great causes vying for support

organization or its board members recruit a

new workplace giving campaign, 40 percent

of the dollars raised from that campaign will

go directly to the arts group that recruited it.

UPAF also is encouraging participants

of the UPAF Ride for the Arts, sponsored by

Miller Lite, to garner more donations for their

rides. The annual fundraising event will be

held on Sunday, June 1. To boost efforts, UPAF

is offering a trip for two to Boston for the rider

who raises the largest amount in pledges.

The Westside Campaign is also a way to

promote a visit to Milwaukee. “If you don’t

work downtown, you’re not aware of how easy

it is to commute to the city, where parking is

always accessible,” said Tillisch, a resident of

western Waukesha County.

Since joining UPAF in 2011, Tillisch is

proud of the impact it has on the community.

“From a personal perspective, it is knowing the

number of people whose lives we touch. One

million people each year. We are the largest

donor to these arts groups that reach people

from southeastern Wisconsin and beyond.”

People who work or volunteer at UPAF

believe in the mission and they are passionate.

“With every dollar we raise, we know it is

going to make a difference. That’s incredibly

rewarding,” added Tillisch.

UPAF has over 700 volunteers who serve

in many roles throughout the year and there

are various ways to get involved. Consider

attending one of these upcoming events to

learn more about UPAF:

UPAF relies on the involvement of

southeastern Wisconsin residents to successfully

raise its goal annually. Community support

keeps the performing arts vibrant and accessible

for everyone. For more information about the

from the community,” said Tillisch. “But since

1967, UPAF has been the essential vehicle to

ensure we’re sustaining these performing arts

offerings to residents.”

UPAF partners with business leaders and

individuals to ensure access to the arts for

everyone in the community. The Waukesha

County Business Alliance plays a key role

in communicating that message through a

Workplace Giving Campaign. “They’ve been

absolutely phenomenal to work with and

they’re real partners, not just in name only,”

said Tillisch.

Individual contributions made through

workplace giving in Waukesha County

will be matched by the Arzbaecher Family

Foundation, up to $25,000.

This year, UPAF is seeking to grow the

number of workplace campaigns by 37, with

many hopefully coming from west side

businesses. The campaign is also offering

a bonus for its Member Groups—if the

“I LOVE MY new home.” When Carol Schalla

first collaborated with Lakeside Development

Company in 2005, she never dreamed that 8 years

later they would build her dream retirement home

in Door County. As the Senior Home and Projects

Editor at Midwest Living magazine for 12 years,

Carol managed and helped design at least 10

Idea Homes. In 2006, Midwest Living partnered

with Lakeside Development Company to build

a home in Horseshoe Bay Farms, Egg Harbor,

in Door County.

“It turned out to be a very successful

Idea Home for everyone involved for several rea-

sons, and I like to think that the stellar working

relationship between Lakeside and myself had

something to do with that,” said Schalla.

“Lakeside had built another show home for

Midwest Living before my time there, and the

quality of their homes was the reason the maga-

zine approached them again.”

So from that professional relationship,

a personal relationship developed between Carol

and Lakeside’s owners Tom Zabjek

and Scott Humber. “When it came time to think

about possibly building my own personal retire-

ment home in Door County, it seemed natural

to consult with them first,” said Schalla.

Q: Why did you choose Door county?

SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN real estate

veteran Jon Spheeris has assembled an “Elite”

team of real estate professionals backed by the

strength of Coldwell Banker. His new franchise,

Coldwell Banker Elite, is located in the heart of

the Lake Country at 175 E. Wisconsin Avenue

in Oconomowoc.

Spheeris, a long time Lake Country resident,

believes in reinvesting in his community and in

the adage “you don’t get a second chance with a

first impression”. To prove the point, he completely

renovated a 3,000-square-foot office space

in downtown Oconomowoc and beautifully

decorated it with walnut floors, oriental rugs and

state-of-the-art technology. Jon believes the new

space will house approximately 20 agents that

will build on Spheeris’ and his groups’ expertise

providing quality service and attention to detail in

marketing real estate for homes of all price ranges.

Jon has built a sterling reputation during

his 30 plus years servicing the

real estate needs of thousands

of individuals, families and

corporate relocation clients. His

vision for this new office was

to combine the best real estate

franchise, with the best agents,

best website, best support staff to serve his

customers and clients in Southeastern Wisconsin.

“Coldwell Banker is a strong partner with the

right tools in place to help buyers and sellers,” said

Spheeris. “The Coldwell Banker Elite Team has

extensive knowledge of the area and exceptional

market insight.” Managing broker Jennie Castillo

added, “We are also looking to expand with

agents who are truly looking to provide the best

service. We have a fantastic atmosphere that I

believe inspires our agents to do their best.”

For Spheeris, teaming up with Coldwell

banker seemed like a natural fit. “The addition

of the new Coldwell Banker Elite office will

further strengthen the Coldwell Banker presence

in the Metro-Milwaukee market and builds on

our heritage of providing professionalism and

superior customer service,” said Jim Gillespie,

president and CEO, Coldwell Banker Real Estate

LLC. “Coldwell Banker is pleased to add this new

office to our network.”

Coldwell Banker Elite is located at the

Avenue Square, a commercial and retail

gathering destination, in Oconomowoc.

I decided in retirement that I wanted to do

something totally different—a small town,

a vacation-destination type of location seemed

attractive. However, I didn’t want to move out

of the Midwest, because of friends, family,

familiarity with the Midwestern culture, and

the four seasons. I wouldn’t be happy in the

desert or year-round hot climates.

I have vacationed in Door County for the

past 10 years with a friend who had a home on

the beach on Whitefish Dunes, and in that time, I

have learned to love everything about Door

County. It seemed a perfect fit for my retirement

destination because I already knew some people

up here from my vacation, so I wouldn’t have to

start out as a total fish out of water; I love nature

and being near the water, all of which Door

County offers in abundance; and I have been a

frustrated artist…and in retirement I plan to pur-

sue my pastel art again. So, the huge art commu-

nity in Door County was an additional draw. It

would also offer a great place for family and

friends to visit and create memories, yet be with-

in comfortable driving distance to my son and

family in the Chicago area.

Q: how did you manage a fulltime job

and building a new house?

A: We built the home while I was still in

Iowa working at the magazine, so it was a long

distance build. I only made two trips to

Wisconsin, once to look at the site, and one

other time during construction. There were two

reasons this was possible: Because I had experi-

ence in building those 10 magazine show homes

long distance from my offices in Iowa; and

because I had complete trust in Lakeside to be

responsive to my designer needs. I knew they

would build me a quality house, sight unseen

until the end. Plus, Scott Humber and I knew

each other from working together on the

Horseshoe Bay Farms house, and I felt comfort-

able with our communication styles.

Q: With your experience building show hous-

es, what things did you learn along the way

that influenced your ideas for this house?

A: I had never thought I could ever build

a new home for myself in retirement. I just

assumed my budget would be too small.

But I went to Lakeside with my thoughts on

the house I wanted to build and the tight

budget I would have to adhere to, and they

were flexible enough to take on my limita-

tions. Being in the shelter magazine business,

I had also accumulated some used props

from past projects such as a chandelier, barn

doors, some hardware and plumbing fixtures

and Lakeside was willing to take

the extra steps to use those products to keep

my budget on track. That was really appreciat-

ed. And, while the project had

to be done on a budget, the home doesn’t

sacrifice anything on style and uniqueness.

Lakeside was very receptive to all my

barn-inspired design ideas and budget-

saving thoughts. For instance, from my

years in the home field, I was familiar

with the latest cost-saving products that

still offered plenty of style like laminate floor-

ing and Formica countertops. We

decided on tall windows and 9’ ceilings

on the first level to make the smaller dimen-

sions feel bigger. Almost everything

I threw at Scott, we found a way to make

it work which resulted in me staying on bud-

get, yet getting the perfect home for me.

Q: visiting Door county is one thing,

but how did you decide where in Door county

you wanted live permanently?

A: Once Lakeside had said they would con-

sider building my home, the search was

on for the right location. It was Lakeside’s con-

tacts that led to finding the perfect spot

for me. While lakefront or lake-view property

probably wouldn’t have fit into my budget,

the lot I eventually purchased in The Enclave

of Ephraim is only a half a block from the

water on Eagle Harbor in downtown Ephraim,

affording me the perfect small town living

spot—it’s scenic, picturesque, historic and

near the beach and beautiful state parks,

yet accessible to all basic needs with Fish

Creek and Sister Bay just minutes up or

down the road.

LOCATED IN THE desirable Lake Park district, this remarkable

historic red brick, English Arts & Crafts home was built in 1912 by

architects Brust, Philipp & Heimerl designed for William Luick, a

leading Midwest dairy producer and the inventor of brick ice cream.

The house was the first residence in Wisconsin to have an electric

Kelvinator refrigerator, and had a ceiling mounted car wash system

in the garage and an in house central vacuum system. Recently

restored and renovated, the owners have maintained its historic

relevance while upgrading the house to a 21st century lifestyle.

Features include refinished hardwood and quarry tile floors,

leaded glass windows, a porte cochere, a second side front entrance

with a sitting porch, two fireplaces, a three-car garage, 5 bedrooms,

3.5 baths, a spacious master suite, a large living room, formal

dining room, a family room with decorative plaster vaulted ceiling,

and a recreation room and full basement. HVAC, plumbing and

wiring have been upgraded along with full house high tech access

including two Wi-Fi zones.

It has been said many times that good things come to those who wait. This old adage might be especially true for collec-tors of vintage stereo and audio equipment. Many

of those enthusiasts believe the high-end equipment that was built to use vacuum tubes has a sweeter sound not matched by newer technology. These folks know that by waiting for the tubes to warm they will be treated to a full, rich audio experience.

The market for vintage high-end stereo and audio equipment is not just limited to the United States with the largest concentration of collectors being in areas of Asia. When selling your audio equipment whatever the vintage, consider the worldwide auction market. An auction is the best format because buyers have to compete and results in prices that are simply amazing.

The keys to a successful auction include choosing an auction company with a stellar reputation and an understanding of global markets. The Sell It Now Store™ specializes in positioning your item in the auction market with many high resolution photographs, a video and an accurate description of your item and its significance. They understand the items, worldwide market and what it takes to sell your item for top dollar.

The process is simple; give them a call for a free valuation. When the bidding ends, you will be amazed at how much your item sold for. You might be even more surprised what country your item is being shipped to. The Sell It Now Store can be reached at (414) 727-0600. Find them online at www.sellitnowstore.com.

IT IS NOT unusual to hear about homes

that are quite amazing, even spectacular in

some cases, among the many sought after

properties found in the Lake Country. But

for some reason the prestige that comes

along with owning a home on Hewitts Point

Road on Oconomowoc Lake has always

been something extra special. Hewitts Point

carefully dissects a small peninsula on the

north side of Oconomowoc Lake. It winds

up and down and around the hilly terrain

until it leads us to this 3-story residence near

the point of the peninsula. This home, at least

the original version, is believed to be around

127 years old—although even after 22 years

the current owners have not been able to

confirm this for certain.

From the moment you enter the home

you are drawn into the deep rich colors of

the hardwood flooring, wood paneling and

beamed ceilings. The fireplace in the living

room carries through the open-concept

second story balcony-area all the way to the

second story ceiling. The balcony itself

actually forms a rectangle above the living

room resembling a classic old hotel design,

exposing the hand-carved railings that

provide the border, along with offering a

sneak peak of the spacious second floor.

The hotel concept that it portrays is actually

not all that far off—based upon how this

home has been utilized over the years.

The owners have been hosting both

national and international travelers ever

since they completed their remodeling efforts

back in the early 2000s. At that time, they

transformed what had been a cottage-like

home, albeit a very large one, into over

8,000-square-feet of resort-like character

from one end to the other and one level to

the next. As part of their collaborative plan

with the owners, the remodeling company

salvaged many of the doors and windows

from the original structure and strategically

placed them throughout the newly designed

home with modernized effects and accents.

This of course allows the home to retain

some of its old fashioned character while

introducing updated and modernized

amenities at the same time.

To the left of the living room is the more

than 400-square-foot music room with sitting

area. The huge bay window provides our first

glimpse of the rolling landscape and picturesque

shoreline. The room also features the second

of five fireplaces and built-in cedar cabinets.

Heading back across the living room and past

a thirty-foot wide tiled porch, is the formal

dining room. With accomodations for 12 or more

people and featuring a two-way fireplace and

wainscot-finished walls, this room already has a

lot to offer—but there’s also a little nostalgia to

add. In the center of the floor under the dining

room table, there is a foot-triggered call bell that

rings in the kitchen when stepped on. The bell

itself happens to be imported from England and

just another reminder of the way things used to

be once upon a time.

Behind the two-way fireplace is the kitchen

and sunroom. The sunroom features a wall of

windows that provide another inviting view of

the landscape in a cozy little setting. The kitchen

area is full of numerous amenities of its own.

There’s a huge island in the center with seating

area. There are also double ovens, honed granite

countertops, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, maple

flooring and imported light fixtures. The cabinet

work in here is a wonderful example of old vs.

new style and design. Every cabinet door in

this kitchen was retained from the original

model or cut out and moved from one of the

other rooms in the home, and then refinished

and stained to match. The cabinets around the

main sink also feature toe-kick drawers for

a little extra storage space.

Passing through the pantry area and first

level laundry room we still have even more

to cover on this floor. A private den or office

area sets up nicely for a perfect view toward

the lake. It also features an inviting fireplace

setting with dual French doors leading out to

the bluestone patio, one of several facing the

lake. Across the hall from here is the guest

room or what could also be used as in-law

quarters. It has its own personal shower and

bathroom and includes a private entrance/

exit to the outside connected via stone

walkway to either the lake shore or back

around the home to the driveway. It’s handy

for the swimmers and boaters coming off

the lake to be able to have direct access to

a shower as well. The far end of the first

floor is finished off with a custom-designed

mud room, featuring built-in cabinets, sports

closets and shoe racks. There is also a smartly

designed powder room on this end featuring

a pedestal sink and nickel fixtures.

Up on the second level is a new adventure

all on its own. Featuring the master suite and

master bath, this room includes its own private

sun porch, a sitting area and two walk-in

closets, a heated marble floor in the bath with

a whirlpool tub and built-in his and hers

sinks. There are also four additional bedrooms

on this level and three more baths. The first

bedroom adjoins one of the two libraries on

this level and features a built-in canopy bed

and its own private bath. The second and third

bedrooms share a Jack-n-Jill style bathroom

with private sitting room. The fourth bedroom

also has its own private bath. The two separate

den/library rooms on this level impress with

floor-to-ceiling bookcases, one located on either

end of the floor. All of this is built around the

rectangular balcony that looks down over the

entryway and living room.

It would be difficult to pick out a single

highlight in this home, but heading up the third

level certainly does put a nice finishing touch

on it. The third level could function as an au

pair apartment and it certainly packs a lot into

one floor. We enter into the main entertainment

or theatre room which features a seventy-two

inch projection screen and surround sound

system with programmable recording capabilities,

sound-proofing, and black-out blinds. There is a

full bath on this level with an original claw-foot

tub and ceramic tile floor. There is also a full

service kitchen on the back side of the floor with

full appliances, built-in cabinets and hardwood

flooring. Last but not least there is another

bedroom or craft room to finish off the floor.

Some of the extras in the home include: four

separate heating and air conditioning zones; two

separate water heaters; a reverse osmosis water

system; 8-foot doors and 9-and 10-foot ceilings

throughout; more than 100 windows for the

ultimate in natural lighting; a finished basement

with full-sized exercise or entertainment room;

private mechanicals and security room; closet

space and storage galore; a 4-car detached

garage; more than 300 feet of lake frontage;

a boathouse with pier and much, much, more.

There are simply endless examples of

character and craftsmanship that have been

put into this home both inside and out.

one-of-a-kind Luick kitchen. As part of the 1912

design, Luick’s architects designed the kitchen

to replicate his ice cream parlors complete with

subway tile walls and unique vaulted tiled

ceiling. Updated for today’s needs, the room,

floored in Italian ceramic tile, contains a large

apron sink, a double door GE Profile refrigerator

freezer, an imported European AGA Legacy chef’s

duel fuel range with six top burners, two full

convection ovens, and a grill. The massive tile

range hood houses a completely rebuilt exhaust

system with the motor located in the attic for

quiet air flow. All cabinetry has been custom

made to match the original and includes granite

counters with a center island with room for four

to enjoy watching the gourmet cook show off.

There is an abundance of cabinet space in the

kitchen, the hall pantry, the side pantry and the

fully restored butler’s pantry which includes the

original working nickel sink.

wainscoting and trim are brought to life by the

up lit vaulted ceiling.

Off of the upstairs landing enter the

spacious renovated master suite with six

windows, refinished hardwood floors, two

closets on either side of French doors that

lead out to a sunroom which was originally a

summer sleeping room. That room has been

converted into a walk-in closet with Closet

Concept units with an exterior door that leads

out onto a balcony that overlooks Lake Park.

The completely renovated master bathroom,

designed to match the historical integrity of the

home, has with a large walk-in shower, dual

exhaust fans, granite counter top, extra-large

pedestal sink, ample lighting, original cabinet

and linen closet just outside.

The second bedroom looks out on Marietta

Avenue. It has bench seating over the radiator,

has one walk-in closet and two matching

closets with shoe stalls. The room includes

built-in shelves for books or collectibles. This

would be the perfect room for an office or a

bedroom. The third bedroom has refinished

hardwood floors, a walk-in closet, built-in

bookshelves, and its own private balcony facing

Lake Park. Also on the second floor is the

second full bathroom with original tile, a new

extra sized glass enclosed walk-in shower, and

built-in shelving with cabinets.

Walk up the newly carpeted staircase to

the 3rd floor and enter the fourth bedroom

with high perched three-window view of

Lake Park. The even larger fifth bedroom, with

dormer windows facing west, has an adjoining

multi-use side room. Also on the 3rd floor find

a newly restored full bathroom, a large all cedar

walk-in closet with built-in cabinets, and two

large attics for abundant storage.

The bottom floor has a large finished

recreation room with quarry tiled floor, working

wood fireplace, slate mantle, and a nook with

refrigerator designed to be used as a bar area.

Also on this level is a renovated powder room,

wine cellar, a large laundry room with laundry

chute, double wash sinks, ample shelves for

cleaning supplies, and a large work room with

work benches and an abundance of overhead

lighting plus tons of room for storage throughout.

In the back is a three car garage and is

WHEN SELLING YOUR classic automobile, consider the worldwide market.

Imagine your car going to a a museum in Switzerland, or to a collector in

the United Kingdom. This is the reality of today’s worldwide market and

how to successfully sell your antique or classic automobile for top dollar.

An auction is the best format so everyone competes, and when opened

up to worldwide bidding, cars and many other items can bring prices that

are simply amazing. The keys include a stellar company reputation, many

high resolution photos, and a video and accurate description.

Does it need to be in excellent condition? Not at all—there are cars

called survivors that are fairly original and are many times worth more than

semi-restored cars. If you have watched the auto auctions on television, you

may already know what collector cars sell for. What you may not know is

that The Sell It Now Store™ specializes in helping you sell your antique or

collector car. They understand cars, the worldwide market and what it takes

to sell your car for top dollar using multiple global channels. The Sell It Now

Store also takes care of all logistics, from title transfer to the new owner, to

the bill of sale, and the financial transaction.

The process is simple. Give them a call for a free valuation. If you decide

to sell the car, they will take 250-400 photos of the car, create a video, and

then sell the car at auction that is open to the world to bidders. When the

bidding ends, you will be amazed at how much that car sold for. You might

be even more surprised what country it sold in.

RESURRECTION IS NOT merely a point

in time to culminate once a year in the

celebration of Easter. Resurrection concerns

itself with the birth, crucifixion and

resurrection of the Christ consciousness. Our

individual relationship to the resurrection lies

in our capacity to resurrect our thought, to

revitalize it into the Christ consciousness.

A classic example of resurrected thought

may be found in the Book of Job. Job had been

complaining bitterly of God’s treatment of him.

Three of his friends were attempting to justify

what had happened to him as well as console

him. Each reproved Job for his obstinacy in

refusing to humble himself before God; each

pointed out the good bestowed upon man

by the Almighty. It was all to no avail. Job

remained a whiner and complainer.

Into their midst stepped Elihu, a young

man whose indignation was aroused by Job’s

continued justification of his condemnation

of God and by the inability of his friends to

find an answer. Elihu apologized for youth

daring to criticize age, but his excuse was

valid. “There is a spirit in man,” he said,

“and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth

them understanding.” In other words, his

understanding of God’s presence and power

came from the inspiration of the spirit within

him, and he felt he had to set Job straight.

He urged Job to listen, and he gave proof of

his sincerity by attributing the source of his

being to God: “The Spirit of God hath made

me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.”

The astonishment of the four men at Elihu’s

temerity must have been great, but Elihu was

not to be deterred from an oratorical outburst

of reasoning that besought Job to “stand still,

and consider the wondrous works of God.”

He reached his climax: “Touching the Almighty,

we cannot find him out: he is excellent in

power, and in judgment, and in plenty of

justice: he will not afflict.”

Are you despondent over national

and international conditions? Are you

beginning to doubt the presence and power

of God, the infinity of his wisdom? Are you

indulging in the flatfooted thinking of the

spiritually uninspired?

Reanimate, revitalize your thinking.

Take dominion over your mind. Consider

the wondrous works of God. Be consoled by

all that there is of good in God’s universe.

Recognize the power of the spirit within you;

believe in it as the source of your being. Be

grateful that the breath of the Almighty has

given you life, eternal and immortal. Take

Elihu’s advice and stop trying to blueprint God.

“Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him

out.” Rest in the conviction that God is. That is

the highest form of resurrected thought.

To the degree in which each of us dwells

in the Christ consciousness, to that degree

will we be a light unto the rest of the world.

This is our obligation.
