Building a Foundation for Guided PathwaysGuided Pathways is a national education reform movement aimed at increasing student access to success. Guided
Pathways, according to Dr. Rob Johnstone, “aims to better structure student connection, entry, progress, and completion.”
These initiatives will help us prepare to implement Guided Pathways:
1. Re-design advising
2. Track data on student intent and connect them to relevant services
3. Support best-practices in teaching and learning in developmental education and gateway courses
4. Review and enhance academic, faculty, and student service organizational structures, including:
○ Supporting part-time faculty
○ Increasing cross-functional collaboration within and between campuses
5. Review strategic course schedule practices

Purpose Academic advising at PCC is the process of guiding students along an intentional path to exploring, affirming, and achieving their education and career goals.
Guiding PhilosophyThe advising process at PCC is guided by a human development philosophy. Grounded in evidence based theories and approaches, our intent is to maintain sustained and inescapable engagement between students and the college leading to successful completion of unique goals and individual potential.
