Relay For Life Picture yourself walking a track while hundreds of people - family, friends, co-workers and neighbours - cheer you on. The baton
you hold in your hand is a powerful symbol of your personal commitment to make an impact in the fight against cancer. As you
complete your lap and pass the baton to a teammate, you feel an overwhelming sense of pride in knowing you’re united with
Canadians in communities across the country to create a world where no one fears cancer.
What is Relay For Life?
Relay For Life is a community fundraising event where Canadians across the country join together in the fight against cancer. In 2014, nearly 400 Relays took place across Canada.
What happens at Relay?
Relay participants walk or run together around a track or path at a local school, park or fairground, passing a baton to their fellow participants and working together toward one common goal the fight against cancer.
At Relay you will:
· participate in meaningful ceremonies
· enjoy food, festivities and entertainment
· connect with cancer survivors
· learn about cancer prevention
Participants can also challenge themselves with a distance goal of 5 km, 10 km or more!

TRAVELLING? CHECK YOUR EMPLOYEE
BENEFITS BEFORE YOU GO!
As the weather heats up,
many Canadians are counting
down the days until their summer
vacation. Whether you’re looking
to travel outside your home
province, or outside the country,
you want to make sure that you
have travel health coverage to
protect against unforeseen
medical emergencies.
If you have employee
benefits, you may not need to
purchase addi t iona l t rave l
insurance. The Chambers of
Commerce Group Insurance Plan®
Health option, for example,
provides a wide range of travel
benefits to insured employees and
family members. These people do
not typically need to buy additional
short-term personal policies unless
they plan to be away for an
extended period of time.
Chambers Plan Voyage
Assistance takes care of a broad
range of expenses which go over
the amounts covered by your
Provincial Medical Plan. Covering
typical charges like hospital services,
semi-private room charges and
doctors’ bills, Voyage Assistance will
also translate, direct claimants to
local medical facilities, advance
payments required prior treatment,
and evacuate patients to more
appropriate facilities nearer home.
The coverage also provides return
of vehicle, lost luggage, and lost
document services.
Check your group policy for
travel coverage before you leave on
vacation. See what benefits you’re
entitled to and note any limits that
apply (such as a maximum trip
duration or age restrictions). You
may be able to save yourself the
cost of additional insurance
coverage when you travel.
To learn more about the travel
benefits available with Chambers
Plan, contact your local advisor.
Benefit Facts presents information to help you
manage your employee benefits. Brought to
you by your Chambers of Commerce Group
Insurance Plan® advisor, representing
Canada’s premier group plan for small and
medium sized businesses.

Congratulations to
Defiance Running Club
Feature Act is a recognition program of the CK Community Leaders’ Cabinet in
partnership with the Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce, the Chatham-Kent
Chamber of Commerce and the Tilbury Chamber of Commerce as a way to say thanks for
building a better Chatham-Kent.
Recognition was given to the Executive of the Wallaceburg Defiance Running Club for
the ACTIONS taken to offer free programs to encourage kids to be active. In the fall of 2014
the program reached over 3,000 kids and 33,000 kilometers was logged in eight weeks.
Mark Childs, Club President, commented that they started the program to enable
youth to become active at a level that best suits them, a great first step toward better health.
Many children cannot run, but almost every child can walk, and as the old saying goes, “walk
before you run.” The Defiance Running Club partnered with Chatham Kent Public Health in
2014 to offer a better program to the schools, making the children aware of better eating
habits.
Karen Debergh, President of the Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce, said
programs like these not only make Wallaceburg a great place to live and do business in but it
shows how a local group cares about creating a community where youth can prosper,
succeed and be healthy.
