Antalya
M. Nizam Savas, born in 1948 in Eskisehir, Turkey, attended University of
Istanbul (Faculty of Forestry), University of Tokyo (Agriculture and
Technology) and is now a journalist (since 1993). Before that he had been, for
example, a researcher, chief of the seven lakes National Park (Zonguldak),
head of National Parks Antalya region and director of Pamfilya Tourism Inc.
(Antalya). He wrote many newspaper articles, mainly about environment,
forestry, bonsais and nature conversation in Turkey and Japan. Furthermore
he is an amateur photographer. M. Nizam Savas speaks Turkish, English,
German and Japanese.
Atlanta
Trevor Williams, 25 years old, graduated from the University of Georgia in
2007 with bachelor’s degrees in magazine journalism, religion as well as a
minor in Chinese language and literature. He is currently working as a
reporter and editor for GlobalAtlanta.com, an international business news
Website. He reports on international business in Atlanta and the state of
Georgia. Throughout his work, Trevor Williams has written numerous articles
and has interviewed officials. He wants to use photos and video interviews
within his articles to illuminate Nuremberg’s ties with Atlanta and the world.
He speaks English and a little Chinese.
Brasov
Dan Marius Ţăranu, born in 1981, studied Romanian and English languages
and literature at “Transilvania” University in Braşov. He is currently working
as a high school teacher for Romanian language and literature and has
previously been working as editor and external collaborator in the advertising
and PR business. In 2001 he participated to the young writers festival
“Berliner Festspiele“ by attending workshops in Polish and German. Dan
Marius Ţăranu is a fiction writer and published a novel as well as several
poetry books. Furthermore he published literary criticism, essays and reviews
and is a steady contributor to the magazines Vatra and Verso. He speaks
Romanian, English and French.
Charkiv
Philipp Dykan, born in 1975, studied history and political sciences at the State
University of Charkiv. For eight years he is working as a journalist for the local
TV channel, where he presents for example the program “Facing the City”
with varying contemporary issues. Furthermore he edited the page “Old
News” for the major regional news agency “MediaPort”
(www.starosti.mediaport.ua). Here worked up news from the old Charkiv are
published. Philipp Dykan also edited the culture news for Charkiv. He speaks
Ukrainian and English.
Cordoba
Mónica Jurado Mejías, born in 1977, studied journalism at the University of
Sevilla and has a master in Communication Management of the Universidad
Autónoma des Barcelona. She is currently working as a freelancer for a
communication agency in Córdoba where she is in charge of the edition of a
magazine for the andalusian youth. Before that, Mónica Jurado Mejías has
worked as reporter, editor, broadcaster and in the field of public relations in
a city council. She speaks Spanish, English, French, Italian and a little German.
Gera
Ulla Spörl, born in 1955 in Schleiz (Thuringia), ran through the common
education of the German Democratic Republic and escaped to West-Berlin
shortly before graduating from school. Family reasons forced her to return to
the GDR. After Stasi-arrest, a compulsory education and ten years of
Qualification ban she was able to start a distance study of education science.
After the “Wende” (turning point) she got involved with an Association for
the victims of the SED arbitrary and started her literary career. Since 2005
she writes regional history publications as a self-employed Non-fiction writer.
Her first novel “Kennwort LOGE” was published in 2009, the second novel
“Akte Doyle” in 2010. She speaks German and English.
Glasgow
Ian Black, born in 1944., is currently working as a freelance writer and a
journalist on different topics. Before that, he was a Chairman and Managing
Director of Marlborough Recruitment Agency Ltd. as well as a founder and
editor of Culture City Magazine. From 1989 to 1991 he did press and PR work
for Glasgow, European City of Culture. He has written several books and
articles about many topics for the Herald, the Guardian, the Independent,
and the Sunday Times. He is Treasurer of Glasgow’s Whisky Club. Ian Black
speaks English and very little German.
Krakau
Wojciech Bonowicz, born in 1967, studied Polish Language and Literature at
the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He has worked and is in some cases still
working as a co-writer, literary critic or editor for various newspapers and as
a reviewer for the Polish TV-Channel TVP Kultura. Furthermore he is writing
as a columnist for “Tygodnik Powszechny” weekly and intends to report
about his trip to Nuremberg in his column. He is author of several poetry
books and non-fictional novels. He was awarded with different prices and
had been nominated twice (2002 and 2007) for the NIKE Literature Award for
his works. He speaks Polish and English.
ShenZhen
Pang Bei, born in 1966, has a Bachelor Degree in British and American
literatures. He has been a translator and journalist for more than twenty
years. Pang Bei is currently working as chief reporter for international news
of Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, the official newspaper of the Shenzhen
Municipal Government in which he can present a special feature of
Nuremberg. Furthermore he is a screenwriter. He speaks Chinese and
English.
Youqian Fu, born in 1979, has a Master Degree in Mass Communication and
is currently working as a journalist in News Centre in the Shenzhen Media
Group. He is in charge of editing the daily news, collecting information and
making short documentary films about various topics like people and local
culture in Hong Kong and Macao. He speaks Chinese and English.
Skopje
Tome Smilevski, born in 1981, is an adviser for public relations of the city of
Skopje and has previously been working as an analyst for several non-profit
organizations. He graduated as Master of Political Sciences in 2006 at the
Institute for Sociological, Political and Judicial Research in Skopje. Tome
Smilevski coordinates the project “Dealing with conflict past” and is a co-
editor of the SEENPM Publication “Kosovo and the Media”. He speaks
Macedonian, English, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.
Venedig
Silvia Zanardi, born in 1981, lives in Venice. She studied linguistics, literature,
Anglo-American studies and German. She received a doctor's degree in
foreign languages and foreign cultures. The title of her dissertation: „The
American Dream in the Fifties: the privilege of a „fatherless“ society?“. As
Erasmus-scholarship holder, she spent six months at the Freie Universität
Berlin. After working for the Biennale in Venice, in the field of tourism, for
Internet editorial offices and in a press office, she is currently working as a
freelancer for different publications. Silvia Zanardi speaks Italian, English,
German, Spanish and French.
