Another big change in 2015 was our leadership transition. We bid a fond farewell to our former CEO, Holly Buckendahl, who is now leading the RMHC in Chicago. I was extremely honored to take the helm of our charity last summer, and it is a delight and a privilege to do this important work with this amazing team. Finally, the Board of Directors has endorsed a new 2016-2018 strategic plan. As we look to our future of serving as a “home away from home” for families with sick kids, we have identified strategic goals related to our Mission, Money, Brand and People. We are excited to move forward, with your partnership and support. Thank you for being part of our RMHC-KC family.

All my best,

Tami

Amelia’s Story Amelia just kept getting sick. With everything. It eventually got to the point where she was not able to move her legs and her mother had to carry her everywhere. Everytime the doctor’s examined her, they thought it was a bacterial or viral infection. They would give her medicine and send her home. After feeling better, then getting sick again, the vicious cyle became too much for Amelia’s family. Amelia was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lukemia on the morning of her third birthday.

Her mother Alicia says, “I honestly don’t know what I would have done without Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. Amelia gets so sick after her chemo treatments, so words cannot express what it means to have a clean, safe home, a warm bed and healthy meals waiting for us every night. Even the security gaurd, Nina, is now one of Amelia’s favorite people. This place is just above and beyond what I could imagine, and our whole family is so, so grateful to the Ronald McDonald House for allowing me to be by my daughter’s side while she fights this disease. Recovery is never easy, but Ronald McDonald House makes it possible.”
