2 ANNUAL REPORT 2019
2019 was another strong year for Elkhart County.
Business Facilities ranked the Elkhart-Goshen
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) #1 in
Manufacturing for Mid-Sized MSAs. Elkhart
County was also ranked #4 in the country
by the Walton Foundation’s “Most Dynamic
Metropolitans” study. Our community witnessed
the grand opening of the Elkhart Health & Aquatics
Center and the completion of the River District Apartments.
Our local companies also made the national spotlight this year. For
example, Janus Motorcycle represented Indiana at the White House for
the third annual Made in America Product Showcase!
The Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County (EDC) had
a terrific year as well. The EDC continued to work closely with local
companies to assist with their expansion needs. With around $130M in
new investment from these expansions, the industries around the county
continues to show strength and growth. According to the RVIA, the RV
Industry has a substantial impact on the economy in Indiana. It supports
more than 126,000 Hoosier jobs, nearly 650 businesses, $7.8 billion in
wages, and $3.1 billion in total taxes paid. The RV industry, along with
the other diverse industries in our area, continue to make our community
strong. The EDC also continued their partnership with Purdue MEP to
host training classes. They’ve assisted over 150 companies with training
needs and will continue to do so in 2020. A few unique classes offered
this year were Six Sigma Green Belt, Principles of Lean Office, Cellular
Flow, and Advanced Product Quality Planning.
As Chairman of the Board for the Economic Development Corporation of
Elkhart County, I’m proud of what was accomplished in 2019 and I look
forward to another strong year in 2020
Thank you for your support!
