SEPTEMBER
MEANS FOOD
PANTRY Time again to
think about the
Norfolk Food Pantry and how you can help! St. Johns
supports the pantry by donations of non-perishable food items,
monetary gifts to purchase the perishable foods, and by volunteers who sack groceries during
September for two hours each weekday morning. THANK YOU!
* Non-perishable food may be left in the
collection boxes in the west hall, the narthex and by the church office.
* Monetary gifts (placed in an envelope designated “Food Pantry”) may be placedin the
offering plate or dropped off in the curch office.
* To give of your time to help at the pantry, check today’s Registration Slip or call Shirley
Frowick @ 402-644-7882.
Thank you, too, for your donations of egg cartons and plastic grocery bags which are
also needed!
THERE IS A GREAT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP AT THE PANTRY
THIS YEAR. IF YOU CAN VOLUNTEER FOR
2 HOURS FOR A FEW DAYS, PLEASE CONTACT SHIRLEY FROWICK @ 402-644-
7882
BRIGHT HORIZONS DIAPER DRIVE During September, Bright Horizons
will be collecting diapers for children in the community. Disposable diapers are
required by daycare providers, and average $100/month. We are especially in need of sizes 4, 5, 6 and baby wipes.
NOTE: An anonymous donor has thrown down a
gauntlet for the Folks & Forks
NeLCM Fundraiser: $1,000 Jug Challenge!
$1,000 in the jug will be matched dollar for dollar.
Help us rise to the challenge!
Mission emphasis in August is the Norfolk Food Pantry. There is always a need for
the staples, but particularly peanut butter. A PEANUT BUTTER PYRAMID
has been started in the west hallway under the coatrack. Stack your donations for a visible reminder of how we can help!
Thank you so much for all the cards
and phone calls for my 90th birthday.

God's Work, Our Hands Sunday is coming
Sept. 13th! Take a
look at the sign up
sheets in back of the
church for your choice
of how you can be
involved in this
fun day! Sunday
School students will be putting Lutheran
World Relief school kits together for
their part in this fun weekend!
Thank you to our Church Council, Pr. Justin and Jolene Ziebell for all their
efforts in organizing the Rally Day activities. The food was delicious and the games fun! Congratulations to Brian Brasch, winner of the Traveling Trophy for Best BBQ, and Linda Downs, defending winner of the Peripatetic (traveling) Pie Plate with her creamy (dreamy) strawberry pie.
As donations continue to come in for Aline
Skogstoe, our YAGM (Young Adult in Global Mission), we will continue to move the plane. Currently, she is mid-ocean! Thank you for your support of Aline in her mission work.
Checks should be made out to St. John’s, with Aline’s name in memo line, and we will update weekly. As soon as we have a physical address, we will publish it so you can send letters of support from home!
