Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad Locomotive No. 683

The locomotive No. 683 shown to the left was one of the early locomo-tives acquired by the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW) when converting its mainline to standard gauge. It operated until 1955 and was acquired by the Colo-rado Railroad Museum in 1963. This is the only remaining D&RGW standard gauge steam locomotive. All of the others have been scrapped.
