Transmission Lines

National Power grid is very important to enable

Renewable Sources of Energy

Remote areas which cannot be connected to the grid, can however

be economically electri ed using alternate sources o small power

generally made available rom renewable energy sources just enough or

(Bio-diesel) and glycerine. Bio-diesel is less toxic, ree rom sulphur,biodegradable, made rom renewable sources and has lower emission

norms compared to diesel.

Irrigation is the replacement or supplementation o

rain all with water rom another source in order to grow

crops. The water source or irrigation may be lake, river,

spring, well or snow pack. Depending on the distance o

source and seasonal rain all the water may be channelled

directly to agricultural elds or stored in reservoirs or

later use.

Ground Water Development

Ground water is important source or irrigation and

Steel Plants

Iron ore lumps, coke, limestone, dolomite and other raw materials

are charged in blast urnace where hot air is pumped to melt iron

and uxes. The molten metal when cooled and solidi ed is called

pig iron. Molten metal rom blast urnace is puri ed to reduce

impurities and then cast into semi nished orms such as billets,

slabs, etc. by continuous casting.

Mini Steel Plants

Scrap/Sponge Iron, uxes, erro-alloys are melted in an electric

arc/induction urnace and re ned to control the carbon,
