Project Description
The pygmy people will be granted
the freedom of carrying on daily life according to their
cultural customs, however the newly designed homes
will help transition them into the modern world.
Because the average pygmy stands
no taller than 5’-0’’, furniture and ceiling
heights will need to be considered.
Where are the Pygmy people?
The Pygmy people live in Gabon, Africa. Pygmies are
semi-nomadic, and traditionally live in huts made of
mud, leaves and branches, called Mongulu.
To sustain their way of life the Pygmy people hunt
and gather their food, traveling from location to
location.

Inside of the Yurt
The layout of the inside of the yurt is very simple and
allows for simple furniture and
Perspective Views
TOP - The view from the kitchen shows the open
concept floor- plan.
Left – The perspective of the bedrooms shows the
storage features. A view of the bathroom is also
visible and shows the accessibility to all family
members.
A wood burning stove was also included to
allow for cooking and heating during colder
seasons.
Custom Door Design
Antelope are one of the most common animals found
within the fields of Africa. In order to keep the tradition of
an ornamental door front to a Yurt, an antelope’s head was
used as inspiration to design the door frame and door
itself.
Project Description
The project requires to design a Nipponese Fashion
house for a retired Sumo (Akebono Taro). The fashion
house will reflect traditional Japanese motifs and
designs and also incorporate a contemporary feel.
The use of bariatric furniture as well as solutions for
the client’s needs will be addressed throughout the
space.

Tatami mat
These mats work well in the unique climate of
Japan, which can be hot, cold, and dry. Tatami
mats also help regulate interior humidity. They
work well with traditional Japanese lifestyles,
which include being barefoot in the home and
sitting and sleeping on the floor.
The rendered floor plan shows the
designed layout of the tatami mat pattern,
and how they will be arranged throughout
the fashion house.
This is a complete floor plan, depicting
the specified furniture. The tatami mats
will be the main flooring throughout the
establishment.
Showroom Elevation and Finishes
Typical Japanese Construction
A fusuma is made by a wooden frame. This
frame is covered with paper in the front and
back. Then, it is covered with a piece of
decorative paper or a cloth combined with
paper. Finally, the fusuma is finished by
placing another wooden frame around the
perimeter of the door.

Fitting room
The fitting room will mainly be used by
models preparing to take the runway.
There are three-way mirrors, and several
display shelves for traditional fans. This
will make the space convenient for
models, and provide easy accessibility for
their accessories.

early design and it give designer an ideas where all the
rooms will be located.
Objective
The design is a beauty salon and it will be on the
Freedom Ship. The interior design of the salon
will include comfortable, securable and
sustainable elements in the beauty salon.
Goal
Comfortable

Egress Plan
In case of emergency, there are two
means of egress in the beauty salon,
ensuring that occupants can
successfully exit the building from
either side.
Project Description
The Alcatraz Prison will be remodeled into a
hotel for tourists visiting the island. It is a three
level structure, made up of remodeled cell
rooms, dining facilities as well as meeting
rooms, and a gift shop. Guests will have many
opportunities for leisure and activities.
Broadway Lobby
On the left is a 3D view of the Broadway
lobby, which will serve as the main
entrance lobby. This will be a place for
laid back conversations, group
gatherings or game nights.

Prototypical Hotel rooms
The hotel will provide different types of rooms, based on guests’ needs.
Rooms and suites will take family and group visits into consideration. ADA
measures will also be addressed with ADA rooms on the first level.
Thematic Meeting Rooms
On the Top
The Air Depot is a conference room.
The U.S Air Force inspired the idea for
this room. Shades of blue and white
will help anchor this theme.
On the left
The Fallen Hero is a banquet room.
The inspiration for the theme came
from the idea of honoring the people
who have fought for the country. A
focal point in the room will be the
Nero marble wall with soldiers’
names inscribed.
Thematic Meeting Rooms
On the bottom
The Boot Camp is the meeting
room based on a military theme.
Lilly paint and Moss carpet are
some of the finishes that will help
represent the Army.
On the right
The Warden was the theme for the
classroom cause in prison the
Warden was the most important
person.
Movie Theater
The 78 seats in this theater will be used for nightly
entertainment as well as for watching films. Every two rows
in the theater have been elevated higher than the one
before it, in order to give each guest a clear view of the
stage and screen.
Dance Floor
The dance floor is made up of three layers.
The bottom layer is padding, then a veneer
layer is placed on top of that, and finally, the
surface is made of a vinyl. The floor is about
180 SF which will allow about 30 people to
dance at one time.
Cowboy Bar
The bar is sociable because the overall space
provides a variety of different seating
arrangements. Giving the bar an open floor
plan will allow guests to enjoy the company of
others. With separated private areas,
customers can also enjoy a more intimate
atmosphere rather than being in the open part
of the bar.
Goal
To design the three level Royal All Star Academy
Child Development Center using shipping
containers. The facility will service infants through
school age children on the first and second level.
The third level will include residence housing for
facility and staff members.
Objective:
C (Convenient)
• The way-finding pattern to guide younger children to their classroom
A (Accurate)
• Community Play Things for furniture procurement
R (Responsible)
• Technology security system throughout the facility
E (Educational)
• The class rooms will follow a neutral color scheme
Inspiration and Sports Themes
The name of the Child Care Center “Royal All Stars Academy” provides the foundation for the interior design because all public spaces will be developed around a sports theme. The floor of the reception area will represent a “pitch” or soccer field using green linoleum. Each hallway will depict a different sport which will relate the specific age group and way-finding. The hallway to the infant rooms will represent a hockey rink; the hallway to the young toddler rooms will be designed as a baseball field; the hallway to the odder toddler rooms will create a football field; the hallway to the pre-school rooms will represent a basketball court.

Elevation of Reception
Sick Bay
The children will spend some time at the sick bay,
which is intended to be comfortable as well as
stimulating. The room will have a boxing theme
with beds that resemble small boxing rings.
Way Finding
Each hallway will depict a different sport which will relate
the specific age group and way-finding. The hallway to the
infant rooms will represent a basketball court; the hallway

Reflected Ceiling Plan
An interesting element is the infusions accent canopies, which
are repeated in all of the hallways. There will be different
colored canopies used in different hallways, which will act as
another way finding tool.

Community Playthings
The company Community Playthings,
provides LEED certified furniture, which
is also made to be ergonomic for
different age groups.
There are four different age groups
represented here, by each furniture
plan. These include: infants, young
toddlers, older toddlers and preschool.
