Tell Me…• You seized an opportunity and ran with it

then you have a winner• You didn't know the answer if you admit it and say

but I can find out shows you are open to learning

Describe…• A typical day at work this speaks to time

management• A typical weekend this gives you an idea of their

family life• How you manage your time this tells you if they

are strategic

Describe…• How could you be better at what you do?• Are you a perfectionist? Flaw• Are you a workaholic?

What…• Does your spouse/partner/significant other do?• Charities are you involved with?• About your Family?• Comedians do you like?• Books do you read?• TV shows do you watch?

Questions I Often Forget To Ask…

• Do you have a non compete?• Have you ever been fired?• Are you currently speaking

with any other companies?

Red Flag Warning

RED FLAGS• They:–Know it all–Have a bad attitude–Have a big ego–Are intolerant– Lack knowledge about job

MORE RED FLAGS– Lack motivation–Are too money hungry–Expect too much too soon–Make excuses–Can’t take criticism– Lack tact

MORE RED FLAGS– Lack integrity–Are negative (especially about

past employers)–Don’t ask questions– Lack follow up

MY RED FLAGS• “I would move for the right opportunity.”• “I have kids in jr high or high school.”• Job skippers – every 1-2 years.

• LIED ON THEIR RESUME

Winner!• Buzzwords of winners. They– Say WE instead of me,–Are optimistic, positive, fun, passionate, engaged– Tell you what they learned from each job, boss,

etc.–Are appreciative, grateful

Winner!–Are reflective–Are go getters–Have empathy– Sound genuine and authentic

Selling Tips – Candidate on the Opportunity• Tell them why your company is a great place to

work• Sell them on the opportunity – not the money• Great for their career• Great for their family/partner/spouse• How they will be an asset and make a real

contribution to the company
