Spiritual Guidelines for those who are fasting:

Enter into fasting with positive faith. God requires faith of this kind in all who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 states, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” If you determine to seek God diligently by fasting, you have a scriptural right to ex-pect that God will reward you. Matthew 6:18 states, “...your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” So your fasting should be based upon the convic-tion that God’s Word enjoins this as a part of normal Christian discipline.

Don’t wait for some emergency to drive you to fasting. It is better to begin fasting when you are spiritually “up” rather than when you are feeling down or depressed. The law of progress in God’s kingdom is: from “strength to strength” (Ps 84:7); from “faith to faith” (Romans 1:17); and from “glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

During your fast, devote plenty of time to Bible reading. When possible, read a portion of scripture before each period of prayer. The Psalms are particularly helpful. Read them out loud, identifying yourself with the prayers, the praises, and the confessions contained within them.

10 DAYSOF CONSECRATION

Daniel 1. Daniel Obeyed God and separated himself. Ask the Lord how you can separate yourself from anything that is making you common in the world.

Psalm 19:12-14. The Christian life is one of continual repentance. Repentance leads to refreshing. And refreshing leads to restoration! Repentance pleases God. Ask the Lord to reveal any hidden sin in your life. Command every spirit behind and responsible for stubborn problems and cycles of defeat in your life to be arrested.

Hosea 6:1-2. It is God’s will for us to be made whole, healed and restored spiritually, physically, emotion-ally and psychologically. Pray for a strong commit-ment for the next few days to eat right, think right and live right.

1 Corinthians 6:20. I was bought with a price. There-fore, I will honor God with my body. Ask the Lord about compromises in your life. Pray and ask God to help you stand firm. Think of some things you can do that will honor God.

Hebrews 10:35-36. You are at the half way mark now. Beneficial things are happening, whether you are aware of them or not. Pray that God will grant you the endurance and perseverance to see a break-through in the areas of your life. Write down those areas that you want victory.
