TheDanielFast1.IntroductionWhatistheDanielFast?TheDanielFastisapartialfast.Itisnotaliquidfast.Foodsarerestrictedduringthisfast,butyouwillhaveplentyofhealthyfoodstoeat!TheDanielFastisbasedonthefastingexperiencesofDaniel,fromtheOldTestament.DanielandhiscompanionswerecapturedinIsraelbytheBabylonians,underKingNebuchadnezzar’srule.ThesemenweregroomedtotakeonadministrativeresponsibilitiesfortheKing,sotheyweretreatedbetterthantypicalprisoners.DanielwasamanofdeepfaithandwasdevotedtoGod.Whenofferedfoodandwine,herequestedadifferentmeal,“Provetheyservants,Ibeseechthee,tendays:andletthemgiveuspulsetoeat,andwatertodrink.”Daniel1:12KJV(lookupanotherversion)Danielalsosharedafterhisimprisonment,“Iatenopleasantbread,neithercamefleshnorwineinmymouth,neitherdidIanointmyselfatall,tillthreewholeweekswerefulfilled.”Daniel10:3KJVWhyShouldIFast?ExtendedprayerandfastingcanbealifetransformingexperienceasyoufocusmoreofyourtimeonGod.FastingbringsyouclosertoGod,itallowsformorefocusedprayertime,anditcanimproveyourhealth.WhenShouldIFastandforHowLong?Thereisnospecifictimeperiodforfasting.Itisapersonalchoice.Manypeople,however,choosetostarttheNewYearoffwithafast.AtimeforfreshbeginningsanddiggingdeeperintotheWord.ThetypicalDanielFastis21daysinduration.Youmay,however,choosetofastforlessormoretime.ItisdependentonpersonalchoiceandwhatyoufeelGodtellsyoutodo.HealthConcernsIfyouhaveahealthconcerninwhichchangingyourdietmayimpactyourhealthinunsafeways,consultyourphysicianbeforebeginningafast.IfyouhaveahealthconditionandyouarenotabletofollowtheDanielFastexactly,consideraltering
