Hi Tatem, I am Thomas Jefferson

¨  Where: ¡  Shadwell Virginia

¨  When ¡  April 13, 1743

¨  Thomas’s dad died when he was 14.

¨  He left him books, a farm, and slaves.

¨  Thomas did not like slavery, and spent his life fighting against it.

"Under the law of nature, all men are

born free, every one comes into the world

with a right to his own person.”

¨  Thomas went to William and Mary College and studied Law.

¨  Thomas was a farmer.

¨  Thomas was an inventor, he invented the swivel chair!

¨  Thomas was the Governor of Virginia.

¨  Thomas was Secretary of State and Vice President.

¨  Thomas was the third President of the United States.

¨  He Built Monticello, which means little mountain

¨  You see Monticello on the back of a nickel.

¨  He wrote the Declaration of Independence.

¨  The signing of the Declaration of Independence is on the back of the $2 bill

¨  Thomas Jefferson made the Louisiana Purchase, and bought much of the USA from France.

¨  He was the founder the University of Virginia

¨  He helped America become a free country!

¨  He died July 4th, 1826. ¨  Cause of death is unknown.

¨  He carved his own gravestone.

¨  It never mentions that he was the Third President of the United States of America.
