01The year 2015 marks the 85th anniversary of Indiana Tech’s
founding in 1930. The leader who started our school, John Kalbfleisch, could hardly have imagined the breadth of
programs and opportunities Tech is able to provide to students today. Yet, I am certain he would be highly proud of all that they, our alums, faculty and staff members, and the university, as a whole, have accomplished over the years.
A mere eight students enrolled when Indiana Tech first opened its doors. Today, more than 9,000 study with us at our main campus in Fort Wayne, at locations around Indiana, Kentucky and the Chicago area, and online. Throughout the years, our promise to them has remained the same: To provide a high-quality, career-focused education that will help them fulfill their potential and lead lives of success and significance.
Our storied history and successful present demonstrate that the Indiana Tech community is effective in keeping this promise. Thanks to the support of alumni and friends such as you, the future for Tech and our students looks just as bright.

Founded in 1930 in the midst
of the Great Depression, Indiana Tech
is celebrating its 85th anniversary
throughout the 2015 – 16 academic year.
Our proud, shared history is filled
with the accomplishments of students,
alumni, faculty, staff and the friends
of the university who have helped
all along the way.
Yet, the celebration of our 85th anniversary is as much about the future as it is the past. Our journey has led us to a place where, today, we can do more for our students and our community than ever before. That, in the end, is the true meaning, significance and purpose of celebrating 85 — not simply noting where we’ve been, but recognizing where we are in the present and where we are poised to go tomorrow.
Celebrating 85 years reveals much to be thankful for across the Indiana Tech community today.

These are just a few of many great stories from Indiana Tech's historic 85th year.
2015THE YEAR IN REVIEW
On May 16, 2015, 1,072 Warriors qualified to receive their
degrees, 912 earned undergraduate degrees, 122 earned
a master’s, and nine earned a Ph.D. Eight hundred and
eighty-one graduates were from Indiana, while 29 were
from countries other than the United States. Twenty-
five finished their studies with a 4.0 GPA. More than 700
of them joined in commencement ceremonies, walking
across the stage at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum
to receive their diplomas.
Keynote speaker Pat Williams, co-founder and senior vice
president of the National Basketball Association’s Orlando
Magic and author of more than 90 books, discussed
the qualities that go into making a strong leader.
“To be a leader of excellence, you must – underline
must – be a lifelong learner,” Williams noted.
With the support of alumni, donors, faculty, staff
and friends of the university, Indiana Tech graduates
are well on the road to being such leaders. Thanks
to them, the next 85 years of Tech history clearly hold
great promise.
CELEBRATING COMMENCEMENTIf there is a single day each year for which the entire Indiana Tech community is most thankful, it is likely Commencement Day.
Indiana Tech's 2016 commencement celebration is on Saturday, May 14.

Our students want to say thank you! Watch their special message at
giving.indianatech.edu
On Oct. 14, 2015, Indiana Tech held its inaugural Thank-a-Giver
Day, or TAG Day. Throughout this special donor recognition day,
students, faculty and staff members recorded video messages,
signed thank you cards and banners, and posted and tweeted
thanks to Indiana Tech supporters online. From supporting
scholarships that help keep college affordable to supporting
state-of-the-art learning facilities and more, donors make it
possible for our students to earn a top-notch education that
prepares them for lives of success and significance.
TAG Day offered every member of the Tech community the
chance to say “thank you” to donors in their own words.
The results can be seen in the TAG Day video posted online on
Indiana Tech’s new donor website, at Giving.IndianaTech.edu.
With such an enthusiastic start, TAG Day is certain to become
a fixture on the school calendar each year.

GALA 85 AIDS THE NEXT GENERATIONGala 85, a special celebration of Indiana Tech’s 85th
anniversary, took place Saturday evening, Sept. 19,
2015. Over 350 alums, faculty, staff and friends of
Tech enjoyed a wonderful meal together and then
danced the night away to Brass from the Past, the
evening’s featured entertainment from Chicago.
Gala 85 produced far more than memories, however.
Sponsors and attendees contributed more than
$80,000 toward student aid at Indiana Tech, helping
make college possible for the next generation of
Warriors. Through their dedication to the university
and Tech students, Gala 85 participants demonstrated
that our next 85 years look equally bright.

Each year, the Tech community seeks to honor just
a few of these many impactful individuals through
the annual alumni awards: The Graduate of the
Last Decade (GOLD) Award, the Alumni Volunteer
of the Year Award and the College of Professional
Studies (CPS) Alumnus of the Year Award. In 2015,
the honorees included three individuals who have
contributed much to the lives of Indiana Tech
students, and to the communities around them.
The recipient of the GOLD Award, Aaron Highley,
earned two degrees from Indiana Tech – a bachelor’s
in industrial and manufacturing engineering in 2011,
and a master’s in engineering management in 2014.
While at Tech, he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient
and a National Robotics Challenge Team Leader.
Currently, he serves as an industrial engineer for
Oji Intertech.
Sharon Tucker was recognized as the 2015 CPS
Alumnus of the Year. Tucker earned dual business
administration degrees in 2013 — a bachelor’s in
management and a bachelor’s in human resources —
and was named to the dean’s list in eight consecutive
semesters. She is highly engaged in community
service in northeast Indiana. Sharon represents
District 1 on the Allen County Council, is a member
of the Anthony Wayne Rotary and Summit Business
Networking and is an executive committee member
of the area NAACP.
The Alumni Volunteer of the Year award recognized
Torrence Craig for going above and beyond in helping
further the mission of Indiana Tech and in serving
students, fellow alums and friends of the university.
Craig attended Tech from 1992-95, ultimately
returning to complete his bachelor’s in management
in 2012. He serves as business development manager
at Heritage Parts. Craig serves on the Indiana Tech
Alumni Association Board of Directors, and has
been active both in helping the board grow and in
developing events and fundraising opportunities to
assist student scholarships at Tech.
The Alumni Awards event also featured special
recognition by President Snyder for accomplished
members of 1965’s 50-year alumni class who returned
for Homecoming 2015, represented this year by
Richard Bray, BSEE; Kenneth Hoffman, BSME; Edward
Hutter, BSEE; Ralph Kistner, BSAE; David Nash, BSEE;
Brian Schoof, BSEE; Dinesh Sheth, BSME; Ravi Talwar,
BSME; and Santosh Tolani, BSME.
ALUMNI MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Year in and year out, Indiana Tech alumni make a difference in countless lives by giving back to their alma mater, and giving back to the communities where they live and work.
President Snyder recognizes eight members of 1965's 50-year alumni class during Homecoming 2015 festivities last September. These gentlemen responded to a special invitation to attend the 50-year reunion at homecoming.
Sharon Tucker was Indiana Tech's 2015 College of Professional Studies Alumni of the Year.
Aaron Highley was Indiana Tech's Graduate of the Last Decade award winner for 2015.

AT TECH AND BEYOND
FACULTY AND STAFF CAMPAIGN REACHES NEW HIGH
First conceived during the spring of 2015, Women’s
Leadership and Philanthropy (WLP) at Indiana Tech
officially launched in November with a kickoff
luncheon event attended by alumni, faculty and staff,
and members of the community. The luncheon event
featured a keynote address on volunteerism and
philanthropy by Melissa Long, longtime news anchor
for Fort Wayne’s 21Alive news team.
In the short time since its start, the WLP group has
attracted over 100 members from around Indiana
Tech and the greater Fort Wayne community.
Operating under the motto “Impact. Influence.
Inspire,” WLP seeks to engage women in the life of
the university through philanthropy, volunteerism,
leadership and mentoring of both current students
and alums. The goal is to build a network of volunteers
and mentors who share in this mission. Those already
connected to Indiana Tech as alums, faculty or staff
members, as well members of the community, are all
welcome to join the group.
WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP AND PHILANTHROPY LAUNCHES
Indiana Tech is equally fortunate to have a highly
dedicated group of faculty and staff, serving students
in Fort Wayne, at our locations around the Midwest
and online. Their commitment to student learning
and success beyond college is evident each day, both
inside and outside the classroom.
In the fall of 2015, faculty and staff members further
demonstrated this commitment to students by giving
back in record numbers during Indiana Tech’s annual
Faculty and Staff Campaign. Ninety-one percent of
full-time faculty and staff gave just over $65,000
during the campaign — both of which are new record
levels. By contrast, other institutions of higher
learning commonly see giving by faculty and staff
in the 20- to 30-percent range.
Faculty and staff members support a variety of
worthwhile causes at Tech via the annual campaign,
including student scholarships and, this year, the
Cunningham Reinvention project.
Impact. Infl uence. Inspire.

Named in honor of the late Joseph
and Carlie Cunningham, longtime
supporters of Indiana Tech, the
Cunningham Business Center was
dedicated on Sept. 7, 1952, as Concordia
Lutheran High School. It was purchased
by Indiana Tech on Dec. 29, 1962, and
known as the Anthony Building for
many years, until being renamed for
the Cunninghams in 1999.
The newly reinvented Cunningham
Business Center reopened on Jan. 15,
2016, serving students from across
the university. It is the home of the
College of Business, the Ph.D. in
Global Leadership Program and two
departments that are dedicated
to serving Tech’s large contingent
of College of Professional Studies
students: The Warrior Information
Network (the WIN) and the Distance
Education Team.
Cunningham is also home of the new
STAR Bank Enterprise Center, an
innovative computer lab and classroom
space that serves as the home of
the College of Business’ new degree
concentrations in financial services
and entrepreneurial studies.
Another distinctive addition to the
building and to campus is the Abraham
and Ellen Smaardyk Center for
Advanced Learning Technology, which
features digital media production
facilities for creating course content
for use in both classroom and
online settings. Abraham Smaardyk
graduated from Indiana Tech in
1943 with a Bachelor of Science in
mechanical engineering and went
on to a long and successful career
at the Argonne National Laboratory
near Chicago.
Individual alumni, friends of the
university, area companies and
foundations have contributed just
over $2.2 million to date to help make
the Cunningham Reinvention a reality,
with the campaign scheduled to run
through June 2016. Students and the
entire Tech community will continue
to thank them for their support for
the project for years to come.
Begun during the spring of 2015 and completed in January 2016, the Cunningham Reinvention project has given the Cunningham Business Center a glorious new lease on life.
POTENTIAL UNLOCKED
THE CUNNINGHAM REINVENTION
Originally built to be Concordia Lutheran High School, today's Cunningham Business Center looks far different than when it was dedicated in 1952.
The Cunningham Renovation project has opened up several collaborative study spaces within the facility and injected it with bright, bold colors.

In February, Indiana Tech’s cyber
defense team, the Cyber Warriors,
competed against schools from around
the state to win the Indiana Collegiate
Cyber Defense Competition. During
the competition, each team’s goal is to
create, manage and protect a network
infrastructure. Teams build a mock
production business infrastructure, and
then must defend it from professional
hackers who are given the challenge
to take down each team’s system and
breach its security. While the teams
work to fend off the hackers, the
competition’s judging staff deploys
network enhancement and upgrade
challenges to each team. Teams are
judged and scored by how well they fend
off hackers and adjust to the judging
staff’s additional challenges.
Members of the state champion Cyber
Warriors included Turner England
(Captain), Michael Contino, Eliott
Stidd, Carson White, Matt Kowal,
Tyler Schmidtke and Ian Springer.
Julie Mansfield, associate professor of
computer sciences, and Bill Copeland,
adjunct professor of computer sciences,
served as faculty advisors for the team.
In the athletic arena, Indiana Tech’s
men’s track and field team continued
a run of competitive dominance,
winning its fourth straight national
title at the 2015 NAIA Indoor National
Championships in March. During the
championships, the men’s team produced
13 individual All-Americans, as well as
two All-American relay teams.
The women’s track and field team took
second at the event, while producing
22 All-Americans and one individual
national champion. Senior Shayla France
won a national title in the 60-meter.
STUDENT SUCCESS EXTENDS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
A vital part of Indiana Tech’s mission is to provide students with opportunities to gain valuable experience beyond the classroom. This includes internship and work experiences, student organizations and a myriad of competitive pursuits.
Indiana Tech's Cyber Defense Team, comprised from left to right of Eliott Stidd, Matt Kowal, Michael Contino, Turner England, Tyler Schmidtke and Carson White, won the 2015 Indiana Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition on Feb. 7. Ian Springer (not pictured) was also a member of the team.
Shayla France won the 60-meter hurdles at the 2015 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 7.

Change in Net Assets before Investment Income
totaled $20.9M in 2015, a $4.1M increase over
2014. The strong financial results give us the
financial backing to expand programs and services
to meet the needs of our students. We are also able to
continue funding the start-up phase of Indiana Tech
Law School, which is designed to train the lawyers
of tomorrow for success in law, leadership and life.
In addition, the surplus is being used to pay for the
Cunningham Reinvention project, a $6.9M renovation
of the building that houses our College of Business.
Cash and Investments increased by a net of $15.3M.
Property and Equipment increased by $1.5M. Accounts
Payable decreased by $0.7M and Debt decreased by
$2.1M due to debt service payments made. Our Board
of Trustees has chosen to pay cash for the last several
building projects, including Cunningham, Indiana
Tech Law School and the Academic Center building,
rather than take on more debt. Our debt burden is low
and will remain so.
The Market Value of Endowments increased by $14.3M
from prior year due to additional funds committed from
operations, as well as good investment results. Our
balance now stands at $96.1M. This money provides
valuable scholarships for worthy students, and also
funds some designated expenses of the university.
Excluding Investment Income, Revenue increased
$11.7M (18.5 percent) year over year. Net Tuition and
Fees and Auxiliary Enterprise accounted for this due
to a marked increase in student population. Poor
stock market returns drove investment results to a loss
of $1.7M in 2015 vs. an $11.0M gain in the prior year.
Expenses were up $7.6M (16.4 percent) over 2014 due
to expenses associated with increased enrollment
such as additional staff and faculty, new programs,
new locations, marketing expense, and the ramp-up
of Indiana Tech Law School.
Financial aid is vital to our students’ ability to pay for
college. Financial aid includes scholarships, loans and
grants. While Indiana Tech provides more institutional
scholarships than ever before in the form of academic
and athletic scholarships, our students continue to
rely on both federal and state dollars to fund their
educations. More and more of that funding is coming
in the form of loans as grants and state funding become
tighter. We are continuing to work with our alumni
and other donors to provide opportunities for
scholarship gifts, which directly help our students
in the form of additional endowed scholarships.
I am happy to share with you the university’s fi nancial information for the year ended June 30, 2015. Indiana Tech had another year of very strong operating results.
Judy K. RoyEXECUTIVE VICE President FOR finance & ADMINISTRATION
Strong fi nancial results give us the backing to expand programs and services to meet the needs of our students, and to fund new endeavors.

ANNUAL GIVING PRESIDENT'S CLUB
When gifts to Indiana Tech total $1,000 or more
annually, a donor earns membership in our President’s
Club for leading contributors. President’s Club
members’ enable Indiana Tech to improve degree
programs, provide competitive financial aid packages,
ensure faculty development, keep pace with advances
in technology for laboratories and classrooms, and
upgrade and expand facilities.
With total annual giving at specific levels, donors
gain additional recognition as distinguished members
of one of the President’s Societies: Leaders’ Society
(annual giving of $50,000 and above); Innovators’ Society ($25,000-$49,999); Investors’ Society ($10,000–
$24,999); and Builders’ Society ($1,000–$9,999). We
sincerely thank these donors for their unswerving
support of the Indiana Tech mission.

Archie Keene was the longest-serving president of
Indiana Tech, holding the office from 1936 to 1963.
Beloved by students, faculty, and staff, he literally lived
in and for his school. He took a fledgling engineering
college with just 90 students and, sometimes by sheer
force of will, turned it into a thriving, highly respected,
accredited institution of higher learning.
In recognition of the importance Keene placed not only
on education but also on caring and sharing, the society
that honors those who remember the university in
their legacy, is named in his honor. We are grateful
to the kind and generous alumni and friends of the
university who share his values and care for students
through their planned support.
