What did we start?

• We unintentionally started a luxury coffee brand in Hong

Chinese partners, consultants, advertising agencies etc

• We were lucky, our brand got listed in Hong Kong’s largest

supermarket chain within 18 months

• It’s still there. And we are expanding into other chains

• We made it a point of duty to expose fakes, counterfeits,

disrupt the status quo and be different

• We made a lot of friends…..and a lot of enemies along the way

• Our friends asked us to do the same for their brands……and

we did

• We became good at what we did and within 3 years, we

turned from a luxury coffee company to a brand holding

company

What is our brand strategy?

• Our brand strategy is unconventional; first we list a

brand in a Hong Kong brick-and-mortar store then…….

• We project the brand into Greater China via mobile

ecommerce while transacting in Hong Kong therefore……

• We enjoy the protection, rule of law, low taxes, international

exposure of Hong Kong while exploiting the huge consumer market in Greater China………

• And most importantly, we avoid currency conversion and

exchange control problems which come with dealing in

• In addition, we learnt a few secrets on brand projection in

Hong Kong and China when we bootstrapped our first brand

with no capital

What are we good at?

• Supermarket listings and developing an eye for what

works……..and what doesn’t. We do things ourselves and not

through third parties

• We developed the right relationships with the right supermarket buyers…..only

after working with the wrong ones

• We are good at NOT pretending to be an advertising or

branding company

• We are good at taking your product(s) and putting it into

the hands of your targeted consumer

What have we done so far?

• We started in May 2012 and got our first brand listed in

December 2013

• By December 2014, we listed 10 different SKUs………

• ……and currently manage several international tea,

coffee, chocolate and alcohol brands

• Red Stripe beer is our biggest global brand under licence in

Greater China

• We control the Lily Kerridge Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee

brand in 67 countries

• Our holdings include an Italian coffee brand, an Indian tea brand, a South African tea

brand and a few others
