The Personal vs. Trend
Green is Personal Sustainability is the trend Definition of sustainability:
Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
In short, sustainability means less waste
Green as the Personal
What’s Driving the Trend?
Government and Market Regulation SEC requires reporting on environmental risks EU companies already reporting environmental risk US EPA has requirements for larger plants already
Automotive industry is being affected by efforts to manage climate change risks Risks are present throughout the value chain-from suppliers to OEMs
and beyond OEMs are requesting supply chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
data to better understand the business risks and opportunities of its suppliers
Industry Leaders See Value in Sustainability
Top Tier Companies Doing It Saves money Reduces risk of public bad press Hedge against future increases in commodity prices Realized they could not operate sustainably without their suppliers on
board, so now the top tier is requiring it down the chain Sustainability scorecards

View from the Top
