DIXIE PROJECT
REPORT ON DIAMOND DRILLING
HEAP AGREEMENT - CONTRACT NO. RL-57
INTRODUCTION
The Diamond Drilling Programme conducted under the
Heap Agreement consisted of twelve holes totalling 5,000 feet.
These holes were drilled to explore for extensions of a small
copper-zinc sulphide deposit located in April, 1977 on Grid ISO-
18 and to test electromagnetic anomalies located on Grid 150-17B-
D.
Diamond drilling operations covered by this agreement
commenced September Isjt, 1977 and were completed October 15th,
1977. The contract drilling costs for the twelve holes totalled
3=74,630.05 or fl4.93 per foot.
The Meap Agreement covered a maximum approved total of
^66,000 with the Minister's maximum commitment being $22,000.
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION {Figure 1}
The property comprising the lands covered by this agree
ment consists of 146 contiguous claims, located in the Red Lake
Mining District in the east part of Claim Map Area "South of Otter
Lake" (M-1772).
- 2 -
The claim numbers being:
KRL 448339 - 448351 inclusive
KRL 448368 - 448371 "
KRL 448373 - 448378
KRL 448381 - 448386 "
KRL 448389 - 448392 "
KRL 448407 - 448423 "
KRL 448447 - 448457 "
KRL 470719 - 470736
KRL 481004 - 481019
KRL 481825 - 481854 "
KRL 481900 - 481920 "
These claims are recorded in the name of Selco Mining
Corporation Limited, Licence No. T-190.
ACCESS (Figure 1)
Road access to the south part of the Claim Block is via
a Reed Paper gravelled logging road which runs northeast from
Highway 105 at a point just north of the Trout Lake River Bridge
Within the claim group several tractor trails have been
established for drill access.
The drill core from this drilling programme is stored in
racks sited just north of the gravel road and this location is
indicated on the Claim Sketch Location Map (Figure 1) .
PREVIOUS WORK
No records or field evidence of exploration work prior
to Selco's activities has been found.
Prior to the current drilling work Selco had conducted
regional A.E.M. surveys and ground geophysical follow-up work.
In the Spring of 1977 a drilling programme to test a number of
ground EM zones was initiated. Part of this early drilling was
conducted under MEAP Contract No. RL-52 and the report on that
stage of work forms a useful reference for this current work.
The Spring 1977 Exploratory Drilling discovered a small
copper-zinc sulphide deposit on Grid 150-18 and minor base metal
sulphide on Grid 150-19. These discoveries stimulated an on
going programme to evaluate these base metal prospects and test
other EM anomalies in the area.
Block 150-17 (Figures 2,35(4)
Grids 150-17 B S D. HLEM S Mag.
In August 1977 just prior to commencing work under this
contract hole 150-17-B-l was drilled to test a ground EM conduc
tor on line 32E grid 150-17-B. This hole intersected massive
base metal sulphides along a core length of 31 feet which average
1.44*6 copper, 7.34?: zinc and 0.94 ounces silver per ton.
(Estimated true width - 20 feet).
Holds 150*17-2, 4 and S woro subsequently drilled undo?
and to the east of Hole 1. (Note: Grid 150-17-D was established
over grid 150-17-B as E-W strikes were indicated). These three
holes encountered narrow low grade sulphide sections indicating
a very limited extent to the good section cut in Hole 1.
Some potential for an extension of the zone down plunge
to the west remains to be explored.
Holes 17-1, 2, 4 S. 5 are drilled within Claim 448448.
Geological Setting - 150-17-B Prospect
The sulphide deposit occurs in altered felsic tuffs
which are metamorphosed to lower amphibolite facies. The vol-
5
canic sequence is cut by granite, granite pegmatite and gabbroic
intrusives.
A large magnetic features 400 feet south is believed to
be caused by an ultrabasic intrusive.
Reconnaissance Drilling
Hole 150-17-B-3 was drilled on Line 12E in Claim 448450
to test a weak EM anomaly 3,000 feet west of the sulphides
discovered by Hole 17-1. Minor amounts of pyrite-pyrrhotite
were encountered within acidic volcanic strata. Copper and zinc
assays detected trace amounts associated with these iron sulphides.
Block 150-1.8 {Figures 5 fi 6)
Grids 150-17 5. 18 HLEM s Mag,
Holes 18-13 to 18-20 inclusive were put down to test for
depth extensions of the 150-18 prospect.
Hole 150-18-13 drilled on Line O, located within Claim
448369 was put down under Hole 18-9 which had intersected 4.0
feet of massive sulphides, averaging l.SS 5?; copper, 7.541 zinc
and 0.86 ounces silver per ton. No sulphide zone was encountered
by hole 18-13 indicating the zone either pinches out at depth or
plunges off section.

ACID TO INTERMEDIATE VOLCANICS.
This unit is grey to grey-green, appears to be fragmentalthroughout from fine tuff to lapilli tuff to possibletuff agglomerate. Siliceous fragments are difficult todistinguish but chlorite fragments with sulphide centres(generally pyrrhotite, sometimes pyrite) make up from 1to 107, o f unit. This is a unique sequence in the drillinto date.
258.5-259.0 - 15Z fracture filling of pyrrhotite.259.4-260.2 - Massive pyrrhotite vein randomly oriented.Contains trace chalcopyrite, minor pyrite.
Some sections more chloritic containing up to 20%chlorite over 1' intervals.
DACITE
Grey to grey-green, well fractured (mostly annealled)hard, becomes more siliceous near bottom. Main maficmineral is chlorite ranging from S-15%. Minor garnetsthroughout-generally associated with chlorite.
INTERMEDIATE VOLCANICS
As from 231.3 to 289.0 with mafic clasts with sulphidecentres. There is also a lot of mafic material fromintrusive below and an abundance of sulphides, i.e.pyrrhotite and pyrite associated with quartz veining(lOyS total) and in other small random veins.Foliated in part at 50 to core axis.

OverburdenACID TO USnERMEDlATE VOLCANICS
Green, probably contains both tuffs and flows, partsappear contain agglomsrate size fragmsnts. Tuffaceousportions contain siliceous fragments in a silica chlorite, carbonate (feldspar) matrix with clots of light greenchlorite between fragments. Percentage mafic matrixvaries from 3-20 Z . Moderately well foliated at 55 tocore axis. Metamorphic grade is moderately high (upper 'greenschist to lower amphibolite) . In sane sectionslarge light brown garnets are present, i.e. around122.0 '.
Chlorite lanprophyre dykes are present at 56.0-56.5,59.4 to 60.0.Quartz-felspar pegmatite dyke at 65.0-65.4 contacts at900 to core axis.
Last 7' of section becomes very mafic with zones ofpink garnets - this is possibly a mafic dyke associatedwith the lower mafic intrusive.ACID VOLCANICS
Probably tuffs. White to grey to orange. This is pro bably a granitized acid tuff or lapilli tuff. Containssiliceous fragments in a silica - felspar matrix withfrom S-10% disseminated biotite. Lineation of biotitegives a 45-50 angle to core axis.167.5-168.0 pegmatite dyke.
