Preschool News

Hello Parents,

Happy Fall & October!! It’s hard to believe that Fall is

here. School is in full swing and we are really getting into

routines and adjusting nicely. The beginning of a school year is

such a busy time: the children are getting used to a new

routine, meeting new friends and separating from home. All

the children have been doing awesome.

We will be having our Fall Festival October 26th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and hope to see everyone there.

There will be Fall parties, special activities and many other exciting things coming up. Please join us for Fall fun.

Now that the weather is changing please remember to bring a light jacket and change all

Summer clothes to Fall clothes. We want all children to be prepared for outdoor fun and

learning

The Haymarket Day Parade will be held the 20th of October. If you are interested in joining us, please sign

up at the front desk. We would love to have some of our family’s walk the parade and support Haymarket

Children’s Academy.

Regards,

Crystal Bussiere

Preschool Director

Hey HCA Family, are you on FB? Want to leave

some positive feedback? If so feel free to stop

by and “Like” our page or review us. We give a

lot of updates and post pictures of certain

activities the children enjoy throughout the

year. It’s a great way to stay connected.

Thanks! Miss Fran

Welcome to

Haymarket Children’s

Academy Literacy

Based Leadership

Program

We started the year off right with our INSPIRED Program as the children work on our SOCIAL literacy during the

month of September.

This program supports our curriculum and play based learning.

This program is designed to help INSPIRE the children to be good citizens, to problem solve and find solutions and to give them

the tools to reach their fullest potential.

What Is INSPIRED?

It is a curriculum that consists of 6 literacies – areas of study – Social Literacy, Health Literacy, Environmental Literacy, Civic

Literacy, Entrepreneurial Literacy, and Financial Literacy

1. Within each literacy, students will begin by understanding h ow the literacy pertains to themselves and to others.

(Self and Others)

2. The lessons will expand to incorporate relationships with families, friends and teachers (Home and School)

3. Lastly the lessons will broaden to the community and world relationships (Community)

Realistic applications of the literacies are an important part of the program. The children will listen to a short story for each

literacy and explore the real-world applications in each lesson.

How will small children understand these literacies?

Simple language is the key. The language will become more mature as they grow into each age group. Here are some example

for how we describe the values we are teaching at each stage.

LITERACY TAUGHT TO ALL CLASSES PRESCHOOL & YOUNGER PRIVATE KINDERGARTEN

SOCIAL I am a friend. I forgive others. I openly list to the ideas of others.

HEALTH I take care of myself. I make healthy choices. I choose how I behave.

ENVIRONMENTAL I am a helper. I am kind to the world around me.

I protect & care for the earth.

CIVIC I work well with others. I tell the truth. I do the right thing all the time! I love my country!

ENTREPRENURIAL I can wait for what I want. I can do it. I take chances to meet a new goal.

FINANCIAL I take care of my things. I give to others. I set goals for things I want.

Your teachers are happy to share with you how this program integrates with your child’s day. We are excited to take this

journey with you and your child, and we look forward to our continued partnership in raising tomorrow’s leaders!
