#GivingTuesday is a national day of giving first launched in 2012 to encourage conspicuous compassion rather than conspicuous consumption during the holidays.

When is #Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is observed the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

On #GivingTuesday, we encourage people to donate their time and resources to causes that are important to them and to let others know what they are doing to inspire more philanthropy.

Mayor McFarlane will be issuing a proclamation declaring 12/2/2014 officially #GivingTuesday throughout the city of Raleigh.

#GivingTuesday is driven by social media, so the more people that we have promoting the day online, the more successful we will be in our campaign here in Raleigh.
