New trends in higher (University) education in Civil Engineering:

• Rapidly decreasing number of (registered) students,

• Rapidly increasing part-time students,

• Increasing interest for correspondence/distance/on-line learning,

• Decreasing interest of students for presence to lectures and tutorials.

DYNET CENTER NIS

• Increasing number of new highly specialized professions (about 18,000),

• Increasing interest for self-tailored study,

• Increasing interest for study and business going along,

• Increasing interest for independent research,

• Increasing interest for student mobility.

CLASSICAL ANSWERS OF TEACHERS AND GOVERNMENTS:

• Old elite-approach in Humboltian stile: freedom of education and research,

• Eighty-century Napoleon Approach: Strictly defined engineering schools with guaranteed jobs,

• Modern Anglo-Saxon approach as combination of previous two systems.

CLASSICAL PROBLEMS IN IT (COMPUTER SCIENCE) EDUCATION:

• Natural language (English/German/Local language),

• Professional language – new, not understandable jargon of terms,

• Lack of strict definitions of IT terms.

SOLUTIONS:

• Interactive (electronic) super fast, high-quality dictionaries of natural languages,

• Electronic (HTML) dictionary of IT jargons,

• Multi-language, multi-media thesaurus of IT terms.

Distance learning (e-learning) systems

• Modularization of courses, giving to students possibility to choice the order of study,

• Context sensitive search, • Automatic Index,• Glossar, thesaurus,• Difference between structure, content, and format,• Objects and repeated use of objects,• Simple establishing relations between objects.
