History
A dream called AIESEC
Devastation, turmoil, anger and despair. The world in which it all began
in was not a pleasant one. Despite this, there was a burning need to bridge the gap
across people and cultures as well as pressure for business schools to produce capable
individuals to rebuild the economy.
This brought individuals together in Liege(Belgium), August 1946 and later
in Stockholm (Sweden) during the last months of 1948, finally resulting in the
first International Congress (IC) in March 1949,culminating into what
we all now know and love “AIESEC”.
• Headquarters - Rotterdam, Netherlands
• Formation - 1948

AIESEC INDIA
After a short period after its first
founding, AIESEC in India was closed down in the 1970’s. A few years later,
Arjun Bhagat gathered with other
students to re-establish AIESEC in India
Arjun went on his first internship to Canada before he was heavily involved in AIESEC. It was in Canada that he learned more about the organization and decided to get more involved upon his return to India in 1980. At this time, he started the initiative to re-establish AIESEC in India.
