Adding Items to your Blackboard Course Menu

All courses at RCC are given a template course to use when

designing course content.

Courses are required to have the following items:

Blackboard FAQ’s

How to customize the look of your menu listing

1. Go to the Control Panel

2. Select Customization

3. Click on Style

Adding a Menu Item

Make sure Edit Mode is “ON”

Locate the menu bar above the title in your course.

Click on the add icon to display the listing of items that can be added.

Adding a Menu Item

There are seven different types of areas that can be added to your menu listing.

Adding a Content Area

1. Click on the Add icon.

2. Select Create Content Area

3. Type the name in the text box.

4. Check the box to make “Available to Users”

5. Click on Submit.

To move an item in the Navigation menu

1. Click on the arrow to the left of the menu item.

2. Drag the menu item to it’s place in your menu listing.

If you have problems dragging and dropping reorder your items by clicking on the reorder icon.

After creating a content item you will see a grayed out box beside your item.
