Adding Images to DE Assessment Progress Zone
Uploading Images to Questions You Create
When you go to the Progress Zone, click on “Create New Item”
To add an image, look for the icon highlighted in the red box below. When you hover over it, it will
say “image”.
A pop-up box will appear that will demonstrate how your picture looks after you upload it. (Make sure you allow pop-ups from Discovery). Click the
Upload button.
Next, click the “Click to Add Image” button above. This will allow you to browse your hard drive for
the image you need.
Once uploaded, you can change its size if
necessary. You can also put a border around the
image (suggest using “4”). You can also create a space under the image by adding “10” or “15” in
the Vspace box.
You can see an example of how this
works in the box highlighted to the
left. Notice the black border around the map. It is 4 pixels
wide.
You can also manipulate the text more easily now with the word processing toolbar. Look for the
“omega” symbol in the top row for special characters if they are needed.
After uploading your image, write your question. Then, select the item difficulty, add your possible
answers, and make sure you select the correct answer using the button to the left.
Sometimes your question may be used in a formative, non-graded assessment. It is good to
provide some sort of hint. Last, you can choose to share the item with your school or your district if
you so desire.
Once your items is created, you will be taken back to your item library where you can make sure
everything is correct. Now you can add the item to your next Probe!
