Thoughts on Equality EQUALITY: DO WE NEED A GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE RIGHTS?

Welcome the first issue of the Eighth Grade Online Magazine!

Editors Letter,

As the Eighth Grade class studied the first colonists, they paid extra attention to the development of rights concerning equality. As we moved through the first unit, the students saw the underpinnings of our nation’s ideas of equality. The students were challenged to think about whether there needs to be a government to ensure equality and basic rights? Or could this be done by individuals by themselves? This led to wonderful conversations culminating in blog responses that were both thoughtful and thought provoking.

This first issue is basically a compilation of their blog posts. In the future, look for a magazine that feels more like a magazine. You may see more artwork, opinion pieces, and articles. Then again, who knows what to expect because by the end of the year, the students will be doing all the producing.
