This is the first time these two starshave decided to work on such a project, together, and they are determined tomake it a monster success.

Last year, many didn’t have much suc-cess coming their way, and some mayfind the going tough, this year, as well, especially when this partnership, andproject, is made known to the public.

Shafi, and his brand new outfit, boomed into action, onSaturday, May 16th, 2015, at

the Rhythm & Blues nightclub. It was Gravity’s very first public

performance. And, being their veryfirst outing, those usual ‘openingnight blues’ were there!

The sound took a while to settle, and when the fine tuning was accom-plished, Gravity impressed – confirm-ing that saying, ‘first impressioncounts.’

Of course, it does take a shorttime for a new set of members to gelas a group, and the gelling process(or playing as one unit) takes placewhen there is more, and regular, exposure.

In this regard, Gravity has it all; asuperb leader, in guitar wizard, Shafi, and the opportunity to perform everySaturday night.

Most definitely, we would be hear-ing, and seeing, a lot of Gravity, inthe very near future.

The Rhythm & Blues nightclubwas packed on Gravity’s openingnight: towards, midnight, there wasonly standing accommodation avail-able.

The crowd included several well-known personalities – Bathiya &Santhush, Melantha Perera (who cel-ebrated his birthday, at R&B, thatparticular night) and his family, ChrisWickramanayake, Janaka (from theband Audio Squad), Budrin Musafer, and Rukshan Perera.

Gravity’s opener, on stage, wasSantana’s “Samba Pa Ti.”

Shafi has big plans, to takeGravity to the very top, and to caterto the masses, as well.

He emphasised that Gravity willplay all kinds of music, includingSinhala, and also the bailas.

“Gravity will have a playlist thatwill enable us to tackle weddings, dances, stage shows – everythingconnected with entertainment,” saidShafi.

“At a wedding, we need to pleasethe couple, and guests, with Sinhalamusic and bailas. It’s the same wheremost dances are concerned.”

Shafi added that he has the mem-bers who could make things happenfor the band, when it comes to vari-ety.

No doubt, with Shafi, at the helm, nothing is impossible.

Celine Dion has a positive update onhow her husband, Rene Angelil, isdoing in his battle with throat cancer.

She says, "Rene's doing really well. Weknow the path that he's going, the treat-ments.

"I knew he was amazing. He's such achamp. He's working hard on that."

Dion, 47, took almost a year off to bewith her husband, 73, of more than 20 yearsand said being with him and the family was"not hard."

"It's hard because life imposes things onyou," she added. "Sickness and you have nochoice but to deal with them. I've been withhim all my life and he's showed me the waymany times."

She said she will be back, on stage, inAugust (2015).

"He wants me back. He wants me strongand this is what we're doing together," shesaid.

Back in March, Dion was candid abouthow tough her husband's cancer had been.

She said: “He can’t eat so I feed him. He’sgot a feeding tube. I have to feed him, threetimes a day.”

Angélil, who stepped down as Dion’s

manager, because of his health, has beenbattling throat cancer for 15 years.

Dion said it was in December, 2013, justas she was about to appear on national tele-vision, that she found out her husband’scancer had returned.

“I went back in my dressing room and Isaw him looking pretty devastated, in shock, and I was like, ‘What’s going on,’” Dionrecalled.

“He said, ‘I have cancer again. The doctorjust called me and I have cancer again.’

“At that moment, honestly, my heartstarted to beat faster but my body shut off,”Dion said. “So I didn’t know how to goalong. He needed my support and I was like,‘OK. I’m going to go sing. I’m going to go putmakeup on and I’m going to go sing‘Incredible’ and I’m going to forget how Ifeel right now.’”

“I sang the song and then reality startedto strike,” she said. “It took a toll on me.”

Angélil underwent major surgery that lefthim unable to swallow and unable to talk.

Dion and Angélil have been married since1994, after meeting 14 years prior. Theyhave three sons together -- a 14-year-oldand 4-year-old twins.
