Alyssa Azar is an amazing Australian with an insatiable appetite for adventure and achievement. Alyssa, 17, is one of the world's leading young mountain climbers and will attempt to summit Mt Everest in May 2014 -- a feat that if successful will make her the youngest Australian and second youngest female to ever 'sit on top of the world'. Born in Townsville, Australia, and growing up in the mountain range of Toowoomba, Alyssa found her passion for outdoor adventure and climbing at age 5, when her adventure-guide father, Glenn, took her bush walking. The teenager has already had an illustrious adventuring career, having walked the Kokoda Track twice (the first time at age 8), reached Everest Base Camp twice (the first time at age 10), along with climbing Australia's Ten Peaks (12), summiting Mt Kilimanjaro (14) and Mt Manalsu (16). In January 2014, two months before she begins her Mt Everest attempt, Azar will take on Argentina's Mt Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the western and southern hemispheres.
