Library Duty:Betty ..........................Sept.

Betty/Jan .................... Oct.

From the President:

After a retreat, I get an extra jolt of excitement about our club. We have

a fabulous group of women, great projects to expand on, and a list of new

ideas generated at our retreat to explore for the upcoming year. It makes

me proud to be a member of the “small but mighty” group, The Breakfast

Bunch!

Good communication is key to a “no guilt” philosophy. It will keep us

all informed and help us work smarter as a club. Several ideas are in the

works that will help increase our communication. Not everyone can make

it to all the meetings, yet every meeting has some tidbit of information that

we all need to know. Also, we need to hear the voice of every member.

This will happen with our new communication tools!

It is my hope that we will all be so excited about what we doing that it will

inspire new memberships. A few new members would add to our already

diverse group and make it just that much more interesting! I appreciate

being your president. All of your thoughts and opinions matter.

I’m ready to go out, have some fun, and

make lots of money to

fund our projects!

Sincerely,

Lisa Allen,

President

All meetings are at 7:00

at The Monticello Hotel.

If the local schools areclosed or have a late start on

New President

& Vice President

Suzanne has stepped down as

President and Lisa is pressing

on as our President. In the

last month, our nominatingcommittee was charged with

the task of nding a member

to ll in as Vice President.

Well, you probably got the

email already that announced

the new Vice President as

Back when we were a Spaghetti Works club, these

newsletters included a cute biography featuring a

member in each issue. These stopped when we ran

out of members. However, since we have many new

members, and since the newsletters could use a bit of

spicing up, we will be bringing this popular columnback. Be prepared to answer interview questions in

writing. Sandy will send them to you by email. Don’t

worry, in general, these are usually attering, but be

careful what you say. Journalism thrives on sensation-

alism, and some editors are prone to exaggerate.

Next, Jan Stagner has broken ground on a facebook

page for our club. Since we are in competition with

other local Altrusa clubs, Jan has put us out there in

the public eye. This page will not only include infor-

mation and chit chat between members, but also thenewsletter you see before you.

Another idea for making the newsletter useful to the

club is to take up advertising again. You can have

your ad (about a 2x2) placed in the newsletter for 6

issues for $6 or 12 issues for $10. email Sandy so that

she can put your ad together.

[email protected].

And one last thing: Jan has shown us what member

contributions can do to improve our communications,

and fortunately, people have been good about sending

Sandy photos. Sandy doesn’t get all the information

in the newsletter. Only the information she knows. So

please use this as a vehicle to get information to the

members about YOUR committee. in fact, YOU may

want to be the one to write the article. That’s the best

idea for insuring accuracy, and will govern the editor’s

tendency to sensationalize. (See rst paragraph)

Fun and Fellowship

Now inspite of what we all say about community service, (and yes, we do a marvelous job with that) who can

honestly say they would join our club if there weren’t these pure, fun and friendship events - two of which were

held this summer.

Annual BBQ - Graciously hosted by Betty Trembley at

her house House. (last July)

Shopping at Pearl Dist. -(Pictured here) hosted by our

remote member, Joan Pendergast. (in the blue pants)

The next time you’re frustrated because it all feels like work,

come participate in the moments that are there for just us.

Bigger dreams for communications
