THE NAVIGATOR
Wednesday August 5, 2015
My cell phone identified the caller as “Jason Weems” and, ever the smart aleck, I answered with something like “What’s up, Bearded Wonder?” After a brief silence, a child’s voice responded, “It’s not my Daddy, I’m Ava Clare!” Young Ms. Weems was not merely making a social call; she had church business on her mind as she asked if she could help serve Holy Communion at worship the following morning. You know answer to that question, don’t you? So at the 9 o’clock service she held the Bread and Kate Kelly took care of the Cup. But Ms. Weems wasn’t finished with her godly labors; as the 11 o’clock began, here she came adorned in an acolyte robe to light candles, assist with the Offering, and to once again serve Holy Communion. I hope she’s not charging overtime. Between her official duties, Ava Clare sat with Clarice Brodie who oversees and helps the acolytes. On about the same row, but on the opposite side of the sanctuary, separated by the center aisle, her Daddy sat alone. How wide the gulf of that center aisle, I thought. A little girl gets up the nerve to sit apart from her Daddy and to serve, not once but twice, in front of her entire church. A loving adult takes her under wing to nurture, guide, encourage, teach. A whole church glimpses heaven as she makes the furtive steps of growth, as she practices her faith in their midst. That sort of thing happens every Sunday morning. It’s nothing short of sacred, miraculous, and we’re blessed to be a part of it.
God bless, Herb Flanders

REVOLUTION CAFE.... AUGUST 16th come serve and
fellowship What is your purpose? Are you needed or not? In reality, you are
wanted, not really needed. God WANTS us, He wants to talk with us , laugh with us, cry with us, hope with us, dream with us and make us into the perfect creation He
planned us to be from the start. The Bible states it like this, "and human hands can't serve his needs--for he has no needs. He himself gives life :and breath to everything, and he satisfies
every need."(Acts17:25) He wants to use us, He wants to reveal His love through us, thus we all have a God given purpose to be here
on earth. The over aching reality of that purpose is best stated in Exodus... "But I have spared you for a purpose, to show you my power
and to spread my fame throughout the earth." We have a great honorable privilege to live a life with the purpose of showing the world
how great a God we serve! He does this by showing Himself to us by His spirit. Then we use His power to show others the love He has for us, and the great desire He has to love us and to have a relationship with us. His great want for our companionship! Not just any old relationship, but one that will last an eternity and one that will be full of purpose and reward. Live life on purpose! Live life for God's Purpose, Love as purposeful as
God has loved you! You are wanted, you are created and spared the reality of what we deserve because we have a purpose.... live that life with PURPOSE, jason
