Come Make Awesome Cakes With Us!!!
Cake decorating project meetings will start in October and late sign-ups will not be accepted past November! The holidays provide a great opportunity for learning and dec-orating and we don’t want to miss this. Please make sure to sign up for cake decorating by October. Maria will send email as soon as the schedule is set, including a supplies list. Meetings will remain on Sunday afternoons once a month, but we will split into two groups this year based on experience in cake decorating. New and second year dec-orators will be in the basics class and those who have mastered the level one and most level two techniques can be in the advanced class. Decorators please review your project manual to see which class you feel more comfort-able in. You are not required to move to the advanced class until YOU are ready! The advanced class will move faster with more advanced techniques and cake types, and less basic instruction. If you have questions, please text or call Maria at 307-760-3768 or email [email protected]. I look forward to playing with frosting with all of you this year!

The High Plains 4-H club Scavenger Hunt at county fair continues to grow. After going through the barns and gath-ering clues Amanda Christensen turned in the answer, “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have rose.” Abraham Lin-coln. She won a $25 gift card to Dairy Queen. Thank you to those who participated.
Record Book Corner Record Books are due in the 4-H office by 5 pm October 5 - but you can turn them in early! The 4-H year actually ends Sept 30th, so your story only needs to go through then, no excuse that you can't get it done before then.
Need help with your record book, would you like some feedback? Come to the Record Book walk in clinic Tues Sept 4th from 5-8 pm at the extension office and, or Monday the 24th of Sept from 5-8 pm at the extension office meeting room.
Quick reminders for Record Books: Section 1's -one needed for each project (sewing, cat, rope craft). Shooting sports need a section 1 for each discipline (one for rifle, one for shotgun, etc.). The summary is where you record how you placed at shows.
Sections 2, 3, 4, and 5 are cumulative, you add to your previous years. Differentiate years by color coding or somehow making note of current 4-H year. Make sure you put month and year for date. Be specific when describing the service or responsibility. If you have questions please do not hesitate to ask! Call the office and you will be given numbers you can call for help.

Code Your World
This October, 4-H and Google will launch an exciting National Youth Science Day challenge, Code Your World, inviting kids to get involved in computer science (CS) through hands-on doing. The national NYSD celebration kicks off October 1, and coding events can take place all throughout October.
Code Your World is a four-part challenge that teaches kids ages 8-14 to apply CS to the world around them through hands-on activities. Developed by Google and West Virginia University Extension Service, it includes a computer-based activity on Google’s CS First platform and three unplugged activities that bring coding to life through games and interac-tion.

Thanks to all who participated.
How lucky am I to have something that makes saying Goodbye so hard.
I really appreciated my time with everyone this summer. You all are a curious and passionate bunch who is aware of the many issues that plague the world and our organization, and want to do something about it. I feel that with focus, disci-pline and sustained effort no matter the challenges, you will have the tools for what you need to be great leaders at your clubs, in your schools, Albany County, and the state of Wyoming.
Remember that kindness matters. This is not a concept that society pushes on young people. We have to get into the habit of building each other up. We have to work hard to counteract all the negative imagery we see about ourselves by being kind and supportive of each other, by congratulating each other and pushing each other towards positive goals.
Thank you to all who have made my time here such a great experience on both a professional and personal level. Thanks for all the support and guidance – I have learned so much and will really miss each and every one of you, but I will see you around town.
Walt Disney once said, “Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving FORWARD, opening up new doors and doing new things…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
