The Twelfth Summer School for Islamic Urban Heritage between Al-Turath and IRCCA was held in the summer of 2017, from August 14 th to 25 th in the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan. The title of the program was “Preservation of Islamic Urban Heritage”(Fig. 99). The program was held in collaboration with National Built Heritage Centre at (SCTH) Saudi Arabia, Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The Islamic Urban Heritage – Research, Preservation and Management School focused on the implementation components: work was integrated with restoration works on construction site. Technical practice on site, and design of preservation and urban development Projects, particularly in Samarkand. o Research, analysis and documentation of urban heritage sites and buildings. o Management, planning and evaluation of the economic and social impact of urban heritage and its conservation, preservation and provision of appropriate financial solutions as a part of Preservation of the Historic Urban Landscape as it is practiced in Uzbekistan cultural heritage centers. The program was carried out in three major cities in Uzbekistan-Samarkand, Bukharaand Tashkent. The Twelfth Summer School for Islamic Urban Heritage between Al-Turath and IRCCA was held in the summer of 2017, from August 14th to 25th in the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan. The title of the program was “Preservation of Islamic Urban Heritage”(Fig. 99).

The program was held in collaboration with National Built Heritage Centre at (SCTH) Saudi Arabia, Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

The Islamic Urban Heritage – Research, Preservation and Management School focused on the implementation components: work was integrated with restoration works on construction site.

Technical practice on site, and design of preservation and urban development Projects, particularly in Samarkand.

o Research, analysis and documentation of urban heritage sites and buildings.

o Management, planning and evaluation of the economic and social impact of urban heritage and its conservation, preservation and provision of appropriate financial solutions as a part of Preservation of the Historic Urban Landscape as it is practiced in Uzbekistan cultural heritage centers.

The program was carried out in three major cities in Uzbekistan-Samarkand, Bukharaand Tashkent. In each city the main heritage buildings were particularly explored which are in the world heritage sites. In addition to meeting the decision makers for urban heritage preservation to share their experience in heritage preservation. Also on site, practical observation in the restoration of adobe walls, stone and wooden columns and roof.
