About the Movie

These are Keke Palmer, actress who play Akeelah role and Doug Atchinson- screenwriter and director for this movie. The idea for this movie came when Atchinson watched National Spelling bee competition in 1994 and he thought that every child who compete in this competition have their own story. So he started to wrote story about Speller.He received theAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and SciencesNicholl FellowshipforAkeelah and the Bee in 2000 and win from other 450 competitors. In 2005, there was producer ask him to make this film and he agreed. Then in 2006, this movie release.2

Akeelah Anderson

Akeelah is 11 years old African-American girl who great at spelling but little bit have bad attitude. She have 100 score at spelling class. Sometimes she missed the class and did not do the homework. She love to remember words and how to spell it. She started love to spell after her dad passed away. she spell to decrease her depress about missing her dad.

Akeelahs Mother

At the first, Akeelah mother did not allow Akeelah to participate in Spelling bee competition. She even interupt when Akeelah in the stage of competition (thank to Javier so she did not disqualify in the competition). Actually, Akeelah mother afraid that Akeelah will frustate when she failed the competition. She watch a competition, when someone win and happy, the other ones, 200 people sad.But the end, Akeelah mother turn to support her daughter to though that Spelling competition is the one activity that Akeelah good and happy to do.

The competition

Akeelah participate in Spelling bee competition in scholl area and won. Then in distric area and won and then in National competition. In the end, she won the national spelling competition, with Dylan.7
