About the Playwright Cheryl L. West is an American playwright and the recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Playwriting Award and the Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP Best Playwright Award. She holds a degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. West worked as a social worker and taught before turning to playwriting. Her plays have been produced in England, New York, and in numerous regional theaters across the country. She has created TV and film projects at Paramount, MTV Films, Showtime, TNT, HBO and CBS.
About the Screenwriter
Doug Atchison is an American motion picture director and screenwriter. He received the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Nicholl Fellowship for Akeelah and the Bee in 2006. Atchison graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television.
