Our Mission

Connecting people to Christ…

Equipping them for life!

Our Vision

Our five-year vision is that by 2016 we would be:

A dynamic community of joyful believers

experiencing the life-transforming power of

Jesus Christ, our hearts ablaze with love for God, love for one another, and love for a needy world;

where the atmosphere is charged with inspirational teaching, fervent prayer,

passionate worship, extravagant generosity,

and a spirit of expectancy, all to the glory of God.

Our Affiliation

Crosspoint is part of Converge PacWest, the

Northwest District of Converge Worldwide

(formerly known as the Baptist General

Conference). Converge’s focus is to Connect, Ignite, and

Transform: Connecting God’s people around

God’s purposes, that He might ignite movements of

reproduction for the purpose of transforming

lives and communities with Christ’s love and truth.

May 2015

Dear Crosspoint family,

Not too long ago, in Revive, Stu Patterson and

Bob Stewart helped us grow in our understand-

ing of the Holy Spirit. It was so rich! I came

across an article that complements what we

learned in Revive.

The Spirit's Work in the Church

"It may be good for us to remember what the

book of Acts affirms regarding the work of the

Holy Spirit in the growth, health, and develop-

ment of the church. A reading of Acts yields at

least the following list:

"The Holy Spirit:

- creates the church

- reforms and transforms the church

- empowers the church

- unifies the church

- gives new wisdom & illumination to the words of Jesus

- sends the church

- creates the deep desire to grow

- accompanies the church

Affirmation.

I struggled in school; I

had a shaky start in

Kindergarten as a 4-

year- old. I can

remember thinking,

“School is too hard. I’m

not smart.” I didn’t fail;

I just scraped by. I

loved summers!

When I attended SRJC, I had a memorable

teacher, Mr. Peter Leveque, who taught Bio

Sci 40 aka Nature Study. He loved his subject

matter and so did I. I was hard-wired for

playing outside. Mr. Leveque considered me

to be a capable person. What a novel idea!

Affirmation and encouragement were a

soothing salve for this underachiever. His

love of nature, his encouragement... he was

the spark that changed my self-perception.

Bethel Children’s CenterBethel Children’s CenterBethel Children’s Center

Let us not forget the profound influence we

can have on children. They are yearning to

be affirmed and encouraged, to be liked and

enjoyed. Let’s be the adult who will jump-

start confidence and positive change for

another person.

It need not be a supreme effort. I overheard

the following exchange when a daddy

asked, “Have I told you I love you today?

Well, I do. I love you so much.” She

responded with giggles and a happy

recounting of her day.

On the subject of encouragement, be sure to

see the movie “Akeelah and the Bee.”

God bless,

Linda Hinkle,

Children’s Center Director

Music NotesMusic NotesMusic Notes

They say “April showers bring May flowers”, but I think they bring phenomenal blessings. God certainly showered us with blessings in April, especially on Good Friday and Easter. At the Good Friday service we were overtly blessed by Hilary & Kate, a vocal and instrumental duet. They played

and sang both familiar and original songs in such an emotional and engaging manner, that it truly ushered us into the presence of God. Couple that with Pastor Mike’s masterful presentation of the L o v e o f C h r i s t , d e m o n s t r a t e d b y H i s willingness to go to the cross on our behalf, and we left that place in spiritual bliss…ready to celebrate the resurrection in two days. On Easter morning, we were treated to the musical story of Christ’s death and resurrection. A c c o m p a n i e d b y t h e ever-fluent narrat ion of Catherine Bickel and the ce lebra t ion o f severa l baptisms, the Crosspoint Chorus sent waves of melodic m e s s a g e s t h a t b o t h encouraged and challenged us to apply the concept that “This Changes Everything”. Now that we know and believe, we can’t help but respond with a changed life. Of course, the real challenge is to make our changed life an ongoing, moment by moment change that results in His glory.

-Soli Deo Gloria.

(To God alone be the glory)

Jim Humphreys,

Director of Worship Ministries

Is your family prepared for battle?

Our Christian life is one of constant struggle,

between our love for God and our love for the

world. And we also have a very real enemy

whose desire is to tear us apart, and he

focuses in on families. If he can’t shake the

parents’ faith, he’ll do whatever he can to keep

them from passing it on to their kids.

So, how are you doing at not just raising up

children to become adults, but raising up pas-

sionate Christ-followers? This has been the

focus of our 4-week Parenting Forum, and that

is only the beginning.

One great reminder for us, as Christian

parents, is that we’re not alone! There are

many other families out there who are

committed to discovering God’s plan and

purpose for their family.

One exciting way we can join together in this

pursuit is to join the 4/14 Family Challenge

(by visiting http://www.414familychallenge.com)

This site has much more information on how

to be a Christ-centered family in easy, non-

threatening ways that will impact our

children in fundamental ways. By joining the

challenge you have the opportunity to

receive weekly email tips on biblical

parenting (several parents in our church al-

ready receive these and find them very valua-

ble!) and get free resources to further your

family’s spiritual journey.

Our families must be prepared for the battle,

but not to battle alone. Let’s join together,

answer the challenge, and raise a

generation of passionate Christ-followers!

Pastor of Family Ministries
