Shiksha is an initiative taken by the Education sector of AIESEC in

Chandigarh for the underprivileged kids of the city where in we approached the

grass root levels to spread the word of education.

It was a four day workshop organized for underprivileged kids and the kids were

made to understand the importance of education with the aim that they will get

the basic education and take a step towards a better and educated future.

The first day was full of excitement as the kids were waiting for the classes to

start. All Students were taught counting in a way that they enjoyed the most.

To our surprise the parents supported us and welcomed us with open arms.

The second, kids were divided into 2 age groups, 4-8 and 8-12. The first group

learn alphabets with a game and the other one learnt tables, it was amazing

to see how he kids were waiting for the classes and wanted it to continue after

hours.

The effort was to make sure the kids enjoy while learning. We taught

students jingles we did in our childhood days. It was fun as even parents from

neighbourhood were learning outside the class. The motivation and the impact

brought more students to the class from neighbouring areas.

Our Last day was focused on making sure we know that we know about the kids

who weren’t admitted in school so as to help them in the best possible way. We

talked to parents of 14 kids to know the reasons why they aren’t in schools.

It was good to know that after 4 days of looking at us even parents want their

wards in school, our motive was fulfilled but we would still make sure that we do

a lot more and impact many lives.

DAY - 4

This project is an effort to make sure that every child gets the

basic elementary education. We look forward to make a

documentary out of it so that it can be shown to higher

authorities. With Shiksha we will make sure we reach every

underprivileged kid and help him/her get the right of education.
