The AIESEC University event took

place from September 20th to

September 29th. Through the 5

domains approached during this

event, the organizers have

facilitated the interaction between

students and people with successful

careers in Romanian companies.

The fourth edition of the project

began on the 20th of September with

the Finance and the Human

Resources track. Renowned

companies such as LeitnerLeitner,

ContExpert and Rantrop & Straton

supported the Finance track within

which the participants discussed

freely about business plans and

ideas, about entrepreneurial

opportunities and about what it

means to be an entrepreneur.

Another topic subject to debate was

the organizations‟ possibility of

financing and the LeitnerLeitner

professionalism became apparent

through one of the most appreciated

sessions on tax due diligence.

The participants of the Human

Resources track enjoyed the vision

of important companies on the

Romanian market. Achieve Global

and Catalyst began the training day

in an interactive way. BRD shared

with the participants relevant

information on the HR projects run

in the company and about

performance management. Finally,

PIZZA Hut showed the students the

way in which you can build a

successful career in a multinational

company.

The Communications and Technology

tracks began on the 24th of

September. The youth interested in

these domains enjoyed speakers with

a vast experience who shared their

knowledge and managed to offer the

participants valuable and current

information. The Communications

conference was started in a relaxed

and interactive way by Bogdan

Naumovici who told the students

about the competition between the

advertising agencies and about the

agency-client relation. Memo Plus

representatives, Ionela Nicolau and

Carmen Constantinescu, discussed

about their beginnings in the

marketing area and also about ways

to build communication strategies

within a company .

Page 5: AIESEC Annual Report 2009

In the last day, Action Global

Communication discussed public

relations and Manafu ended the

communications conference by

presenting the social media concept.

Silviu Hotaran, founder of Microsoft

Romania, opened the Technology

conference through a session on

topics such as software and soft

skills. Radu Georgescu presented the

participants the entrepreneurial

opportunities in IT&C and Vali Haicu

held a training session on sales in

the technology field .

Social Responsibility School

represented the final track of the

AIESEC University project. Starting

on the 27th of September the

students passed through interactive

trainings and games with the

purpose of illustrating the role and

importance of Corporate Social

Responsibility.

The first day was moderated by

Stefan Palarie together with Teia

Gavrilescu. They made a series of

motivational sessions focused on the

attitude the young people must have

towards the CSR concept.

The second day was about case

studies, Dragos Tuta from Petrom

presented the concept of the project

called Tara lui Andrei and Mugurel

Margarit-Enescu, from Principesa

Margareta a Romaniei Foundation

spoke about the way in which they

deal with social responsibility and

fund-raising.

Mihaela Alionte for RBS spoke about

financial responsibility. The session

held by her was novel from the point

of view of the topic and also

because of the approach. To

illustrate the necessity of a financial

responsibility a study case was made

through the RBS‟s Money-Sense

program.

The last day of Social Responsibility

School was meant for practical

activities. This began with a trip to

the “Ateliere fara Frontiere”

Association, where the participants

had the chance to discuss with

Raluca Gheorlan, the NGO‟s director,

and could observe a social project on

a large scale. Afterwards, Raluca

Fischer from Green Revolution held

her session on making CSR projects.

The project enjoyed the support of

many qualitative partners who

invested with us in adding quality to

the project. We thank hereby those

who have offered us the locations

for the event: Orange Concept

Store, MNAC, Casa Universitarilor,

Sala Dalles and ArtExpo Room.

Life Portraits - which consisted of

Romanian students discussing the

challenges of discrimination ( of race,

religion, sex etc).

The event took place in Bucharest on

17 March 2010 when students from the

main Universities in Bucharest discussed

the challenges of discrimination( of

race, religion, sex and others) and

understood the consequences of

discrimination in everyday life.

5

The CSR project aimed

to provide an intense

learning experience with

impact on the comunity,

through events that

developed a sustainable

mindset.

The project was

autosustainable and

valued diverse sources of

revenue. We connected

international people with

the CSR reality from our

society.

On 25 July 2010, AIESEC

Bucharest gave every student the

possibility to enroll for a unique

experience. The summer

recruitment was for students who

wanted something more than what

the faculties had to offer.

The internship that AIESEC

Bucharest promoted had the goal to

bring a more professional and

personal experience which can be

useful for a future career for young

people.

The development internship

implies collaboration with NGOs,

foundations and cultural institutes,

and the youth have the possibility

to be a part of social project with

themes like: children rights,

environment and educational

problems in different countries.

The recruitment had the deadline on 2 August and was made only

for development traineeship, because the demand was greater and the

possibilities to go in exchange, likewise.

This recruitment was promoted mostly online due to the summer

holiday when students couldn’t be found in campuses . Being based on

exchange , the event would have been possible only for senior

students.

The slogan was: “What’s neXt?” which means a guidance to

opportunities that AIESEC has for the students.

Finally, there were recruited 32 exchange participants.

with an economic profile, having

knowledge in marketing, management,

finance, business administration, but also

to those with a humanities profile:

teaching in foreign languages,

educations.

“The “Explore the World” program was

conceived to offer intense experience,

both cultural and professional to young

people with high potential from Romania,

wishing to know the world, to invest in

their development and bring their

contribution to the development of those

around them. “ – Vlad Fejer, President of

Page 11: AIESEC Annual Report 2009

This program was organized by

AIESEC Romania in partnership

with AIESEC Germany, India,

Turkey and China. It was

represented by 3 projects:

The “Change in Diversity” project

offered to students, MA students

but also the graduates with a

minimum experience of 6 month

in the field, the opportunity of

knowing the corporate

environment from India and

Turkey and to discover two of the

most powerful cultures in the

world. The internships have a

duration from 6 to 12 months on

the following fields: marketing,

management, business

administration, finance.

The “Discover Deutschland”

project was addressed to students

on the condition that they were

not in the senior year, but having

the same economic profile. The

internship duration was of 6

months and it is ongoing in

collaboration with companies

from Germany.

The third project in the “Explore

the World” program, under the

name of “Learning to Understand”

offered the senior students and

those who recently graduated

studies in foreign languages and

teaching in English language the

opportunity of teaching English to

pupils from China high schools

over a period of 6 to 12 months.

For this recruitment there were

350 applications from which only

67 were selected for the

internships. The recruitment

process was composed by filling in

a form, group interviews,

individual interviews, an

induction period of two weeks and

final interviews.

All the internships in this program

were paid, covering the

accommodation expenses, meal

and transportation, but also some

other expenses during the

residence in that country.

The conference ''No Name'',

organized by AIESEC Bucharest, took place

between April 19 and 20. It was addressed to

the students of different universities,

passionate about advertising. The conference

brought to the foreground the world of

advertising and allowed the students to discover

the fabulous world of advertising from the

backstage. During the three days, the

participants had the opportunity to interact

with famous speakers and satisfying their

curiosity by asking questions and finding

valuable answers, worthy of being put into

practice.

11

2nd day: Your Present

As advertising is not just story and theory, during the second

day, the students had the opportunity to participate in workshops

to put the theory into practice.

3rd day: Is it your Future?

The third day gave the students the opportunity to be curious

and ask questions to decide if the world of advertising suits

them.

The „‟No Name‟‟ project was meant to send participants on a

journey into the world of advertising, to go behind the scenes

through discussions with specialized people and through practical

experiments. Also, its actual deployment would not have been

achieved without the help of the conference partners: Dare

Advertising, Neoset, Starbucks, Rom, Sarantis and Public, IAA, IAA

Young Professional, Action Global Communication, Brightness,

Bliss, Light HouseSSS.

12

The conference was held as follows:

1st day: Their Past

The participants had the opportunity to

listen to the speakers’ successful stories:

Sorin Psatta, Lorand Balint, Bogdan

Manea, Costin Radu, Monalisa

InPower Brings Innovations

to Politehnica University Of Bucharest

The InPower event, held on the 20th and 21st of April, was addressed to

students in the technical-academic environment and took place in the

Politehnica University of Bucharest. This event tried to instill into the

participants‟ minds that there are certain critical competences which

they must develop in order to be able to self-accomplish professionally

and also, it tried to offer a starting point in filling up their minuses,

some of them through workshops, but also through open conversations

with company representatives.

The competences on which this event was focused were the

entrepreneurial skills, presentation skills, team management and sales.

Trainings on this themes were delivered by AIESEC alumni, like

Alexandru Popa, Vali Haicu, but also active members of AIESEC – Raluca

Samsonoc Local Committee President 09/10 or from abroad AIESEC Lille

Valentina Florentina Vice-President External Relations 09/10.

The participants, 30 in total, were pleasantly impressed by this first

day, motivated so that in the event‟s second day to come and discuss

with company representatives, more precisely with Bobby Voicu,

former CEO of Yahoo! Romania, in a growing number, reaching a total

of 50 people in the room.

This wouldn‟t have been possible without the help of the event‟s

partners: Louis Berger and Grammar Publishing House, and without the

dedication of the organizing team members who strived so that the

event be qualitative, no matter what obstacles were encountered

during the several months of planning. 14
