Caring Bridge Journal entry by Paula Mielke — Jan 22, 2019
Bruce deserves a gold medal, I'll claim a silver for myself. It took a lot of coordinating of appointments, lab work and meds, to be ready for Monday. Bruce had an infusion for extra fluids at the hospital in the morning and stent replacement at same day surgery in the afternoon. All went smoothly.
Eating continues to be a challenge. Bruce is experiencing everything that makes it hard to eat. He continues to lose weight. His medical team is anxious to see the results of Thursday's CT scan. We'll learn those results next Wednesday.
So about the headline - it's darn hard to write a snappy headline about cancer treatment and its side effects. One of our distractions to get through this is making ice cream. Creative flavors make it more fun, such as Black Licorice, Banana Fudge and Cinnamon Basil. Bruce can taste the ice cream before it's frozen. Bruce's favorite ice cream flavor is butter pecan. On Sunday I found a nutrition supplement flavored butter pecan - hurray!
