• All society care and promote the potentials of the elderly: older persons encouraged to assist in local activities e.g. construction, conservation, cultural knowledge transfer etc.

• National Assembly includes representatives of Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE)


• National Program of Action for the Elderly (2012-2020) encourages older people who wish to open their own businesses

• Articles 166 and 167 of the Labour Code 2012 addresses older workers’ rights; older persons are granted the right to work while receiving pension benefits as well as ensur-ing ‘decent work’

• Vietnam Women Union (VWU) programs for female elderly: Small Loans for Women; Advancement of Women; Intergenerational Self-help Clubs.
