A tool is a object that can be used to produce or get something. Tools have changed since 1.6 BC to now. The first tools were made in the Stone Age.

Australopithecus could only use very simple tools. For example, they could have used a small tree branch to put in an ants nest and then simple lick the tree branch and have a simple meal. They also use sticks, bones and rocks to help them digs holes in the ground and use them to defend themselves. They could only use or find tools, but not make them.

Homo Habilis lived in Africa in the Stone Age time. This time period was when the early man created tools made from stone. Homo Habilis created sharpened rocks for helping them to hunt and or to cut their food. They could also use fire but could not produce it. For example, if lightning would strike and got on a tree, they could use it to scare away predators and or to keep themselves warm. They would have to though watch the fire carefully because they did not know how to make it again if it ran out.

Homo erectus is stronger then modern humans and they look more ape like than humans. The Homo erectus made complex tools. For example, like a hand axe, sharpened sticks and tools for killing animals. With these tools they moved from Africa to Asia. Also the Homo Erectus could make fire to keep away predators and to keep them warm, this also helped them to immigrate.

The first and last Homo Sapiens was found in Neanderthal, Germany. The Homo Sapiens made harpoons and spears to hunt animals and to defend themselves from their predators. They also used stone knifes and basic tools. Homo Sapiens were the first to burry their died. They also made shelters for themselves.

Cro-Magnon are another group of Homo Sapiens, but smarter. They were the first to hunt fish by making fish nets. Cro-Magnons invented the Bow and Arrow. They learned how to sew, draw, make music, paint and created new tools that helped them to hunt more such as canoes. Cro-Magnons could talk, they also hunted with others which allowed them get bigger animals when they work together. They also were the first to store their food for the winter and the first to create the needle from antlers.

Homo Sapiens Sapiens are the species we are now. Homo Sapiens Sapiens populated the earth since the last Ice Age. Homo Sapiens Sapiens used all different kinds tools. For example like harpoons, spears, fish nets, fish hooks, fire, bow and arrow, hand axe, even sharpened stone rocks. Sharpened rocks turned into now sharp knifes used to cut meat, vegetables and many more things. Most of the tools we use now are cell phones, flashlights, ladders, and much more.

Tools have evolved for a long time from a sharpened rock to a knife made from steel. Earth is changing everyday and same with people and the tools. In the future there are going to be different tools from the age we live now in and from the Stone Age.
