Recap Oklahoma was simply not going to let Eron Harris beat them a second time. When these two teams met in Morgantown back on Feb. 5 Harris went off for 28 points, including hitting a late 3 to send the game into overtime. This time, Harris scored only five points before fouling out with two minutes remaining, and the 23rd-ranked Sooners put together a 23-7 run midway through second half to dispose of West Virginia, 72-62, at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. With both teams shooting in the 30s for a good part of the game, West Virginia was right there with Oklahoma, leading 43-40 after a Kevin Noreen basket with 11:46 remaining. But Oklahoma (22-8, 11-6) found its shooting stroke, scoring seven straight capped by Buddy Hield’s 3 to take a 47-44 lead. Then two more Hield triples, one coming at 9:20 and the other coming at 8:23, pushed the lead out to six, 53-47. The undermanned Mountaineers responded with just one field goal over the next five minutes. Juwan Staten scored 10 of West Virginia’s first 12 points and finished with a team-best 24 points on 11 of 23 shooting. Freshman forward Devin Williams contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds and Gary Browne came off the bench to score 12. But after that there was not much else for WVU, playing its fourth straight game without third-leading scorer Terry Henderson. Cameron Clark led the Sooners with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Hield overcame a poor first half to finish with 13. Oklahoma shot just 41.8 percent from the floor, including 11 of 30 from 3, and was out-rebounded by two, 39-37. The Mountaineers finished the game shooting 42.2 percent from the floor and made only 4 of 10 from the free throw line, where Oklahoma had an 11-point advantage to make up the difference in the game.

Notebook• West Virginia finished with a 3-6 record in Big 12 road play in 2013-14.

Recap Eron Harris scored 28 points to lead West Virginia to a 91-86 overtime victory over 21st-ranked Oklahoma at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown. Oklahoma, now 17-6 overall, experienced travel difficulties getting to Morgantown and didn’t arrive in town until a just few hours before tipoff. The Sooners trailed by as many as 14 early in the second half before rallying. Oklahoma got its deficit down to single digits on a Buddy Hield 3, and eventually got it to three with 10:37 remaining on a Tyler Neal 3. Another 3 from Neal with 3:47 left made it a four-point game, 77-73, and then a traditional three-point play from Ryan Spangler with 1:38 left gave the Sooners their first lead of the second half at 79-78. Two more Neal free throws made it a three-point game with 1:18 to go and the Sooners had a chance to go up five, but Jordan Woodard missed a close one that led to Harris’ game-tying 3 with 24 seconds to go. Oklahoma had a chance to win the game in regulation but Isaiah Cousins couldn’t knock down a 3 with two seconds remaining. In overtime, Harris banged in a 3 after a 2-point jumper from Woodard, and a second 3 from Harris kept the lead at three. Woodard and Juwan Staten traded baskets before Staten made it a two-possession game with 29 seconds left. A Woodard turnover led to another WVU free throw, this one from Adrian, with 14 seconds left. West Virginia led by 11 at halftime, 43-32. Harris was 10 of 18 from the floor, including 6 of 13 from 3, and West Virginia needed all of them because the rest of the team had a rough night shooting the basketball, including Staten, coming off a career high 35-point performance against Kansas State four days earlier. Staten was 6 of 18 from the floor and failed to make a field goal in the second half before scoring three points in overtime. He finished the game with 20 points and a team-best 10 rebounds. Terry Henderson was the only other West Virginia player to reach double figures with 17, although he was only 5 of 12 shooting. Overall, the Mountaineers were 28 of 71 for 39.4 percent, but they did manage to produce a 46-44 edge on the glass. Oklahoma got 23 points from Woodard and 16 from Neal.

Notebook• Bob Huggins recorded his 21st win over an AP-ranked team since he has been at West Virginia.

Recap Oklahoma’s strong second half propelled the Sooners to a 67-57 victory over West Virginia in WVU’s inaugural Big 12 basketball game at the Coliseum. West Virginia used the 3-ball in the first half to build a 35-29 lead at the break, and another Terry Henderson 3 from the wing built West Virginia’s advantage to 10, 41-31, at the beginning of the second half. Then on its next possession, West Virginia got two more on a Juwan Staten layup to give the Mountaineers their biggest lead of the game, 43-31, forcing Oklahoma to call timeout. After the stoppage in play, the Sooners clamped down on Henderson and eventually chipped away at West Virginia’s lead, getting it to nine on a pair of Romero Osby free throws before a couple more Osby baskets reduced West Virginia’s margin to three, 45-42, with 12:38 remaining. Steven Pledger retrieved Cameron Clark’s airball from the wing for an easy bucket to tie the game at 48, and then the Sooners took their first lead since the 10-minute mark of the first half on a Clark dunk that turned into three points when he was fouled by Kevin Noreen on the play and he converted his free throw. West Virginia scored seven of the next nine points - three of those coming on a 3 from the wing by Jabarie Hinds - to make it 55-51, but Oklahoma immediately answered with a Pledger 3 that hit the rim twice before falling through. Buddy Hield’s stick-back basket in transition put the Sooners ahead by one, 56-55, and after two more Osby free throws, Hield knocked down another bucket on a short pull-up in the lane to put Oklahoma ahead by five, 60-55. The dagger came on another Pledger 3 when he slipped free in the corner against West Virginia’s zone defense, putting the Sooners ahead by six, 63-57, with 2:07 left. Osby added another slam dunk ahead of a Hield basket to put the game on ice for Oklahoma.

Notebook• After making 9 of 19 from 3-point range in the first half, WVU finished the game 11-of-30 from behind the arc while shooting only 30 percent (18 of 60) for the game. Henderson scored 21 for West Virginia, but 18 of those came in the first half.
