Connection Today
• Cuba - the economic blockade the U.S. still has in place is a relic
of the Cold War.
• Vietnam - the Cold War and its perpetrators (China, France, the
U.S., and the USSR) were responsible for dividing Vietnam in
1950, a 9-year war between France and the DRV, the partition
on Vietnam in 1954, non-compliance in the elections that were
never held in 1956, then a 15-year war in which the DRV won
and unified the nation under Hanoi's rule in 1975. The U.S.
ended its economic embargo against Vietnam in 1994.
