A bit about “ ”

Dear Neighbours, Welcome to your April edition of your Abbey-Link. April is here, the clocks have gone forward and Spring is in the air. I do love this time of year, as the evenings pull out, the weather starts to warm up and we all start to venture outside again. Sometimes though we can get a bit of a shock once outside, when we notice the amount of work that needs doing on our gardens / patios etc. Well the Abbey-Link may be able to help you. We have a number of Garden maintenance companies in the magazine, see page 30, 32 & 33 for further details. Also if you are looking to hire any outdoor equipment, as you are looking to do the work yourself, Ermin Plant Hire are offering a 10% discount during April and May - see page 23 for more information. If you are just after general advise as to what gardening should be done during April - have a read of our article on page 31 from Garden Delight, telling you what you should be doing in your garden this month. As the Easter holidays are upon us during April, you may be going away, have you thought about who will look after your pets. We have a variety of pet carers whether you are looking for someone to visit your pets within your home or you are looking for kennels for them to go to. Perhaps they could just do with a bit of a pamper or grooming now the weather is better - all these services can be found on page 39. Now that we are in the Easter holidays, our thoughts also start towards other holidays throughout the year. If Cornwall is an area you enjoying visiting, we have a couple of caravan holidays being advertised on page 36, these make great family breaks. Abbeymead Primary School Social Enterprise Committee has had a busy year so far. We have been working on a number of projects that we would like to tell you about. The team has been involved in a Gloucester Rugby event (to be shown at the City Museum in July and August), a project on the River Twyver (hosted at Abbeydale Community Center) and creating arts and crafts products for sale at local events. We are also putting together teams of pupils at the school who will be called 'Neighbourhood Rangers'. They will be out and about soon around Lobleys park and the shops near the Turmot Hoer with litter picking and an anti graffiti campaign among their tasks. In July we will be hosting an event at the school. Which we hope will promote the good work happening in our communi-ty and encourage others to volunteer in the future. There will also be an opportunity to share memories and photographs of Abbeymead, which we hope to scan and record for future gener-ations. We hope to see you soon, either at an event or when we are out and about!
