Rosebery Shops GraffitiThere have been a lot of issues with graffiti containing explicit words and images on the front of Rosebery Shops recently.

Kevin Sharp Painting are donating their time and products to paint the front wall with a special silicone based paint after the first paint job I did was graffitied over the same night.

Hopefully this silicone based paint and also the mobile CCTV unit which has been set up at the shops will deter the graffiti vandals.

Team Palmerston was again involved in the Bump, Bub & Beyond Expo providing our tents for shade in the food and drink area outside. There was a great turn out at the expo and this event just keeps getting more popular.

Happy 20th Anniversary this year to Woodroffe Primary School!

At 50+ Club’s annual Melbourne Cup Best Hat competition. There were some pretty special hats made for the day.

At Sacred Heart Primary to help celebrate World Teacher’s Day. Morning tea was donated to all of my electorate schools as a thank you to all teachers for their hard work.

Painting the graffiti on the Chung Wah Terrace wall at Rosebery.

Remembrance Day service in Palmerston held by RSL Palmerston Branch.

I played the keyboard at Rosebery Primary Schools ‘Count us in’ music event in which schools across Australia all learn the same song and sing it at the same time on the same day.

There have been some issues raised with the state of the concrete cycle path on Chung Wah Terrace between Lambrick Avenue and Sibbald Crescent. There are sections of the path that have lifted and caused concern to safety of the public. This section of path is also on quite a

COMMUNITY SAFETYChung Wah Terrace – Upgrades to Cycle Paths

steep hill and could be very dangerous if a rider came off at speed due to hitting a lifted section. I am pleased to say that approval was given by the Minister’s office for the Department of Transport to fix these as a priority. The works should be completed mid-December.

Elrundie Avenue/Bonson Terrace Turning LaneI contacted the Minister for Infrastructure regarding the possibility of moving forward the works for a safer turning lane from Elrundie Avenue on to Bonson Terrace.

This is a busy junction due to the school being on Bonson Terrace and also being a major road through Moulden. I am pleased to announce

that the works have been approved and the tender has gone out for this to be awarded to a contractor.

The tender closed at the end of October for submissions and will be awarded in November with works to be completed by the end of February 2016.

Moulden Oval UpgradesThere have been many issues with itinerants drinking on this oval, cars accessing the oval causing damage to the field and glass being left smashed on there. This was obviously damaging to the field and dangerous to the rugby players and any students at the school utilising the oval for sport.

After liaising with the Crocs Rugby Union Club and Moulden School I contacted the Minister for Education

and the Minister for Sport & Recreation. We discussed the mound being removed at the front side of the oval so that the oval could be seen from the road more clearly and also to have fencing put around the ground to stop car access.

I am pleased to say that approval was granted for both of these works and you may have noticed that the mound has already been removed; the fencing installation is due to be completed by the end of November.

I had a great day at my Blain Pool Day in October. It was good to have such a large turnout and I got to chat to heaps of people in the community and get drenched with water by some of the kids! It was also fantastic to see the donations flowing to Lions Club who cooked the BBQ on the day. Thanks for coming.

Peter Chandler, Member for Brennan and myself supported Brittany Ward for her Free Throw event at Palmerston Recreation Centre to help raise funds for Ocsober.

Her fundraising efforts will go toward alcohol education services for school children.

Blain News

New Bus Stop in front of Moulden Oval (near Moulden School)I have had many constituents of Moulden and also the School contact me regarding their concern of where the current bus stop location is in front of Moulden School.

This stop is used for not only the school buses but also all public buses. Particularly during school drop off and pick up times this was dangerous so I contacted the Minister for Transport to gain approval of a new bus stop location to be included in the works schedule for 2015-16.

This has now been approved and a new public bus stop will be built just near the Moulden Oval on Bonson Terrace. This will mean that all school buses will still pick up from the stop outside the school for the students, and all public buses will only use the new stop making it much safer for all of the students.

I will have further details coming up that I will put in my Blain Newsletter for you regarding the timing of this, but it will be within this financial year.
