Wednesday was 3/14 and an appropriate day to cel- ebrate this number. The sixth, seventh and eighth graders participated in a walk or run of 3.14 miles around the community, beginning at the school track and continuing around the Eddyville First Baptist Church, to the court house, down Main Street, up Tanner to Fairview and back to the school. The students drew attention from busi- nesses and passersby and many were stopped and asked what the significance of 3.14 is. The faculty awarded prizes to the first two boys and girls of the race. Later in the day, each student lined up to have a turn to throw a pie of shaving cream at a faculty member of his or her choice. The real pies were not forgot- ten, however. Students shared pies and different kinds of circular sweets at the end of the day. The students and faculty had a great time and couldn’t have asked for a better day for a 3.14 mile “Pi” walk.
