A Vow to Cherish: Reaction Paper

Never have I seen a movie where in you will really see the real meaning of marriage. The

words, “til’ death do us part.” is really portrayed in this movie. John and Ellen Brighton, a

happily married couple whose devotion to one another is as strong as their devotion to God.

Also in the family is their youngest daughter Terri, and their son Kyle, who has just graduated

from high school and goes away to college.

The role of John Brighton is to be a good father to his children and to be a faithful

husband to her wife Ellen. Ellen Brighton’s role is to be a good role model to her daughter and

to also guide her children. While Terri and Kyle roles is to honor their parents and to take care

of them when grow old.

Among the characters that made the most impact to my life was John Brighton because

someday I will be a husband and the father and when that time comes I want to be like him. My

favorite part in the movie that touched me so much is when John gave up everything to God

and decided to focus more on his wife and take care of her. Imagine the courage of John giving

the company he built for years and it only goes to show how much he loves his wife and how

sincere he was in when he renewed his vows to Ellen.

The lesson that I have learned in the movie is that if you are committed with an another

person, even if the roads you are going through are rough never forget your commitment to

God because he is the only one who will help you when nobody around. I also learned that,

whatever you have in life even the most precious thing that you treasure very much, when the

time comes that you need to give up that thing you should not hesitate just like God did when

he gave up his only son for us. Even you gave those things up, God always has a better plan for

you, and he will not let you suffer. That is how amazing God is.
