Job Description for Management Accounts Assistant
Department: Finance and OperationsReporting to: Head of Finance Direct Reports: Transaction Officer Hours of work: 0.7 FTE (26.25 hours per week)Location: LondonSalary: £33,000 (£23,100 Pro rata)
About Education Support
We are a UK charity dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of the entire education workforce through a number of ways:
providing a helpline run by trained counsellors to talk about issues education staff don’t feel comfortable speaking to others about
offering financial support for those in the education sector who need it the most delivering a range of support and development services for education staff and
organisations conducting research to increase understanding about the pressures faced by
educators and using that research to advocate for improvement in the sector.
Job Purpose To maintain a complete, accurate and controlled set of accounting records ensuring adherence to set timescales; produce reports on all aspects of financial activity including monthly management accounts for review by the Head of Finance.
The responsibilities of Management Accounts Assistant include providing accurate and timely month end financials, reporting, reconciliations and supporting Head of Finance on ad hoc reports and statutory accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities
Management of sales ledger process operated by transaction officer; ensuring robust credit control procedures are maintained
Management of purchase ledger process operated by transaction officer; maintenance of purchase ledger controls including supplier statement reconciliations
Management of bank account processes operated by transaction officer, including entry of all transactions and monthly reconciliations on all bank accounts
Producing monthly aged debtor reports and other debtor based reports as required Maintenance of accruals and prepayments schedules and monthly adjustment
process Preparation of detailed deferred income calculations and monthly journal Maintenance of fixed assets records Operation and reconciliation of control accounts for all balance sheet items.
Maintaining daily cash flow control and preparation of cash flow statements Preparation of operational finance reports: assistance with Management accounts
analysis; income and expenditure variance reporting. Provide cover for Payroll processing Any other duties identified by the Head of Finance within the scope and
competencies of the post-holder as applicable

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Skills and Attributes
Able to work under pressure while at the same time maintaining expected levels of accuracy
An eye for detail An ability to work to tight deadlines Good computer skills (e.g. Word, Advanced Excel, databases and financial
software including Exchequer) Must be a good communicator and a team player Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in data processing, requiring high
levels of trust and discretion. Flexibility and willingness to help others when necessary in a small team and
assist in covering absences
Knowledge and Experience
Must be actively studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA and be working towards becoming a qualified accountant.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong eye for details. Experience of producing management information Strong Excel skills
Knowledge and Experience (Desirable) Knowledge of Salesforce/ Exchequer
