PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE PARDON As we join in confession today, we invite you to take a piece of ribbon at the end of the
pew, and to write something you want to share with God on it. It could be a burden
that you carry, a desire for forgiveness because of mistakes you have made, or a desire
for reconciliation with God or another person.
When we begin singing “As the Deer” after the sermons, our ushers will invite you
to come forward by rows to drape your ribbon on the cross.

Verse 1:
As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after you.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship you.
Chorus:
You alone are my strength, my shield; to you alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship you.
Verse 2:
You’re my friend, and you are my brother, even though you are a king.
I love you more than any other, so much more than anything. Sing Chorus
Verse 3:
I want you more than gold or silver, only you can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy-giver, and the apple of my eye.
Sing Chorus
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Confirmands will lift up prayers for the world, naming many ways in which fellow
human beings are in need of healing and grace.
As each Confirmand closes his or her portion of the prayer, we invite the congregation to join
in the words:
I’m right here, Lord. Guide me to do your will.

Bearing and Following the Word into the World
*HYMN O Love that Will Not Let Me Go Roxology Roxology will teach the song by singing the first verse alone, and then the whole
congregation will sing the first verse together.
O Love, that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow
may richer, fuller be.
O Light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee;
my heart restores its borrowed ray, that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
may brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not vain,
that morn shall tearless be.
O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust, life’s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red
life that shall endless be.
