Page 5 NIBBLES State of dementia care at Pleasant View Nurs-ing Home was recently described by Suzanne Koch and Jessica DensonMyhre. A new therapy involves artificial pets which move and “talk” to residents. This has a calming effect on those with the illness. Below Elaine Bethke and Stacy Cavanaugh “test” the pets. Suzanne , right, is daughter of longtime Kiwanian Chuck Koch.

Mike Sanders, Monroe Clinic CEO, recently updated Kiwanians on the progress of the new con-

struction at the Clinic. Mike noted that the new medical office building was slated for completion

and occupancy yet this year. The existing clinic building will undergo renovation in 2019-2020,

with the campus complete in 2020. He noted patients will have a new experience as there will be

smaller waiting roomies (cubbies) with shorter wait times. There will be a new cancer radiation

therapy facility in the new medical building, to open early 2020. The Durand facility has been re-

placed and opened in January of this year. He indicated that there will be a Freeport expansion in

the future because 38% of revenues are derived from Illinois patients.

Clinic CEO Mike Sanders outlined the Progress of construction at the Mon-roe Clinic/Hospital at a recent meeting.
