Our 5th Thursday event for January
was held at Monroe Golf Club.
Attendees had hot snacks, libations,

Sara Quies, representing Badger State Ethanol, spoke to Kiwanis recently. Sara noted
that Badger State was founded in May of 2000, and currently produces 85 million
gallons of Ethanol annually. They employ 46 people who convert corn into the fuel.
Sara noted that 250 million bushels of corn are produced within a 100-mile radius of
Monroe. From one bushel of corn, the plant gets 1 lb. of oil, 2.9 gallons of ethanol, 11
lbs. of DDG (dried grain) and 3 lbs of BP50 ( a high protein substance). The plant has
four new 250,000 bushel grain bins under construction, Ethanol is found in most all
fuels today.
