CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O God, full of compassion, I commit and commend myself to you in whom I am and live, and
know. Be the goal of my pilgrimage, and my rest upon the way. Let my soul take refuge from
the crowding turmoil of worldly thought beneath the shadow of your wings. Let my heart, this
sea of restless waves, find peace in you, O God.
(Silence for personal confession)

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostles Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the
Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Church Wide Concerns
Please pray for these concerns of our partner church in
Malawi, Mtenthera CCAP:
• The call of a new fulltime minister. They are now
being served by their second visiting pastor and we
pray the church not become discouraged as they wait
for the new minister expected now in June or July.
• The restoration of disciplined elders. Seven elders
were disciplined by the presbytery. Pray for their
hearts to be moved to take actions needed to be
restored to full membership in the church.
• Building of the girls’ hostel. We have experienced
many delays and challenges in completing this
project. Please pray that Hussein Latif and Mr. Joel
are committed and empowered to lead this project
to completion in 2015.
• Food security. The harvest will not be good this year.
Please pray that our friends in Malawi have enough
to eat and that we can support them with aid and
training to improve their food supply in years to
come.
• Rev. Banda. The former pastor still awaits a call to a
new congregation. Please pray that he can be patient
as he waits God’s call upon his life and also that his
family is provided for during this time of transition.

Our Sympathies
To the family and friends of Dorothy Thayer, long time
friend of FPCP, on her death on 6/1/15
To Matt Best and family on the death of Matt’s father, Thomas Best, on June 12, 2015.
Prayers of Thanksgiving as Cathy Tartaglia is doing
amazingly well and, as she says, “turned a corner!” After
being critically ill, she now has enough energy to do a bit
of gardening. She expressed appreciation for the many
meals delivered by church members this winter but is
now able to do her own shopping and cooking. Her
coughing has subsided which has allowed her to return
to church. In June she spoke to the Monday evening
Caregivers’ Group about her experiences.
Thanks be to God for this happy turn of events!

180 Years
of
Memories
The Festival, this year on August 15 & 16, is in its second year as a coordinated
Christian outreach sponsored by 5 Plymouth-area churches. This event includes outstanding speakers,
musicians, family and teen activities, as well as service projects. The concerts planned for Kellogg Park offer an
opportunity for everyone to enjoy upbeat songs bringing joyful praise to the Lord. The tentative schedule:
Saturday - 3:00 p.m. - Impact Band
- 5:00 p.m. - James and June
- 6:15 p.m. - Saltz & Beck Band
- 7:30 p.m. - I Am They
Sunday - 3:00 p.m. - Chosen
4:30 p.m. - Kingdom Come Alive
6:00 p.m. - Jason Eaton Band
Between performances there will be “Slam Poetry” and acoustic music in an adjacent tent.
Headliner bands include JAMES and JUNE, a local husband and wife duo. Since the release of their first demo, “My
Sweet Sunshine,” their songs have consistently received rave reviews. Their single, “Never Let You Go,” has garnered wide-
spread radio play throughout the State of Michigan. James and June have connected to their listeners in a way that
goes beyond entertainment.
We are also featuring the JASON EATON BAND who, in just four short years, have established themselves as a critically
acclaimed and commercially embraced “act” for all ages. The title track from their debut EP “Nothing Back” has garnered
both national airplay and landed on international airwaves. Performing in an extensive headlining tour, they have re-
ceived a top-ten nod on Word Records’ list of best indie bands in America and have appeared with several hit maker
bands. The Jason Eaton Band is on top of its artistic game.
From Carson City, Nevada, the band I AM THEY began as a worship team from various community churches. The 6-
piece sound is propelled by versatile musicianship with three-part vocal harmonies. The name is inspired by the words in
John 17, where Jesus prays for His disciples and refers to them as “they.” Each band member considered himself as
“they.” They have won a band competition at Spirit West Coast and have published a major label with Provident Label
Group.

As part of our VBS Mission project, the National and International Mission Committee is asking every man, woman, and child in our church to bring in pennies to donate to the building of 2 shallow drinking wells in Africa. This mission project is one that everyone can do and should do because it will change lives. Our goal is to raise enough
money to pay for the construction of 2 wells which will be $800.00 or …..80,000 pennies.
Our hope is to not only relieve the suffering of others but also to teach our children that even the smallest coin can change a life. Please help us to reach our goal by bringing in your pennies anytime from Sunday, June 28th- Sunday, July 26th and drop them in the well in the narthex. Thank you!

FPCP is working more closely with our Presbytery and its program for foster children. Our prayer ministry can help by praying for a special child in foster care. This month we are praying for 17 yr. old Lakenyei. She loves to dance and listen to music, and she counts track and cheerleading among the activities that she par-ticipates in. On weekends, Lakenyei’s favorite things to do include getting her hair and nails done, and while in the company of friends, she likes listening to music and playing games.
This leer was sent to Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal
Church in Charleston, SC by Julie Heasley on behalf of FPCP
